That's absolutely amazing.  This is the only title I've actually been excited about for a long time.

The combat looks a little stale, but I don't care.  My only worry is that with those expensive graphics the land mass to explore might be smaller, and with fewer dungeons.

If it looks a lot better on the xbox 360 than the PC I might actually consider buying one.

I downloaed that the other day but I haven't watched it yet.  Twenty minutes just seems like forever!

I like how the gosh wow looks of that thing seemed to run like monkey shit on whatever platform they were on, with some stutters apparent throughout. It looked interesting, nonetheless, but I shudder to think of the minimum specs.

An xbox 360 or a graphics card that costs more than an xbox 360.

I really wish he would have hit the chain and handcuff thing with the sword. Weapons as objects would be neat. I like their use of ragdoll, too.

This also shows the tear in the sword, showing off the low framerate.

It seems like it was interlaced, though, so who knows. Plus it was an E3 thing, so hopefully the performance is better by now.

I had a blast playing Morrowind when it first came out, and I started playing it again last week ( heavily modded ) in anticipation of Oblivion. Hot damn if this and Civ 4 won't make this a great PC gaming year after all.

It doesn't matter.  Morrowind is the everwending game.  I used every cheat, edited my character maxing out everything and I couldn't finish that game.

Dammit.

I managed to not purchase Black and White. So I was able to dodge that bullet. I know I'll hate Oblivion. I know it won't have a cohesive storyline that I'll care about. I know it's a sandbox with gimped versions of crafting, AI, and combat. But I'll still buy it. Because I'm a gamer, my soul is black and my eyes are green. And because that NPC set her dog on fire.

I have an unopened copy of B&W around here somewhere.  I got it in a bag of boxes for $4.  I'll send it to you.  Just to fuck you up.

I enjoyed Morrowind a lot, but the problem was that I never played it as intended. Exploiting the game and doing crazy shit or doing quests in nearly reverse order was more fun than the main story.

Heh, yeah.  Brewing stacks of potions of "Fortify Intelligence" that would give you ten thousand points for a month and retailled for more money than any vendor carried... Fun stuff.

But, I don't think I ever even got a character all the way up to the last expansion.  There was just nothing in there that kept me interested in the world, and once I'd twinked my guy up to "WTFPWN" level, I couldn't stay interested for more than about ten minutes.  Graphics were bland, animation was godawful, the whole "World" feeling wasn't as well done as it was in Daggerfall.  Story sucked.  Combat sucked BAD.  There just wasn't anything in there.  But, maybe the next one will be better.

Incidentally, that link gives me a 404; anyone know if it's mirrored anywhere?  Checked the official site and couldn't find a link... though I did notice that apparently they've got some big names for the voices for the game...  Which seemed a bit odd for the sequel to a game whose entire voice cast seemed to consist of "What do you want, outlander?  What do you want, outlander?  What do you want, outlander?" and occasionally some shopkeeper saying something like "Seen any..... ELVES?!  BWA HA HA HAH HAAAAA!"

The character animation looks pretty bad, the combat lacks visual feedback regarding the status of your enemy (they just sort of randomly fall down and you have no idea why), and the lip syncing is, well, out of sync. The forests look very nice, though.

If you recall, this was rectified via patch in TESIII.  Assuming TESIV is mod-heaven like TESIII, I figure a health meter would not be hard to add, before or after retail.

PC version will ship with the latest version of The Elder Scrolls Construction Set ( or TESCS if you will ), so chances are pretty darn good it will be.

Actually I thinking more along the lines of visual feedback on/through the enemy model itself since the game seems to be going for a minimalist UI look. E.g. have the mob "grimace" (assuming humanoid facial features) or have blood appear on the armor/clothing/skin (there is some blood splurting shown in the video but it didn't look like it attached itself to the model) or have it stagger around, or something like that to let you know how badly damaged your foe is.

Pfft.  Morrowind was pathetically easy to finish.  Follow the main quest, don't stop to smell the shiny.

What took forever was finishing all the guild quests and random other quests. Also silly stuff like making 100% sanc armor, super magic healing armor, jump 500 feet in the air rings, and abusing corprus to give yourself 5000 permanent strength...

Morrowind, not so great for it's combat/story, but awesome for it's total open endedness.  Hope they stay with the same strategy for the next one.

Wasn't there a speed run going around that beat Morrowind in 20 minutes or so?

Edit: Ok so it was even less

I have very good memories of that one.  I'd be a happy camper.

Wow I've never seen that before, crazy.  I bet that gives all the people who spent so much time on the quests a conniption.

Of course those seven minutes are the result of countless hours spent beforehand in research of NPCs, items, vendors, locations, and finding out where the main story arc goes.
