Title: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: voodoolily on October 05, 2005, 05:00:22 PM From Best Week Ever blogs
Quote At a recent Crash Test, Aziz Ansari challenged his roommate Zach to see who could come up with the sh* ttiest mixtape. Each contestant was to choose five songs. Their other roommate, Merlin, would act as judge. The loser would have to walk around the city blasting all ten songs from a boombox. Aziz (http://www.azizisbored.com/2005_10_02_azizisbored_archive.html#112845251288313309) lost the contest. I can't believe LFO made it on that tape. Actually wait. Yes I can. Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: schild on October 06, 2005, 01:17:10 AM This is a brilliant fucking contest. I should buy "shittiestmixtape.com." People everywhere across the country should be doing this. Awesome.
Voodoolily gets a stay of execution. Grats Ding. Level 3. Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: Soln on October 06, 2005, 06:16:58 AM I  NY

The looks he gets are just priceless. This is the funniest thing I've seen all week outside of the new Arrested Development. OMG DAWSON'S CREEK SONG. Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: voodoolily on October 06, 2005, 10:51:02 AM What really seals it, for me, is that he was such a good sport. He fucking ROCKED the Dawson's Creek song!
Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: kaid on October 06, 2005, 11:26:51 AM Ya if you are going to walk around town blasting shitty music you may as well have fun and strut to it.
kaid Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: Furiously on October 06, 2005, 02:56:15 PM He could have done much much much worse. I mean he didn't have any depeche mode.
Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: schild on October 06, 2005, 03:02:33 PM He could have done much much much worse. I mean he didn't have any depeche mode. There is not a single Depeche Mode song worse than that shit. Between the last 2 songs I was really hoping for Snap's "The Power" or something equally 90s horrible. Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: Merusk on October 06, 2005, 03:08:09 PM Depeche Mode got me laid. Therefore, it can't be as bad as the rest of that tape.
Though "Click,Click, Boom" was a bit surprising. Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: Bunk on October 06, 2005, 04:20:02 PM Anyone care to do a transcription of which songs were on the Tape? I don't have headphones with me here at work.
Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: Cheddar on October 06, 2005, 06:13:35 PM Maybe I missed the point, but I thought the whole game was to pick songs that did horrible as a mix tape, not horrible songs. Personally I liked a few of the tunes. Oh and Never, EVER talk bad about Depeche Mode. Ever.
Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: Pococurante on October 06, 2005, 07:41:12 PM DM got me my first and last threesome. Ectasy did the rest. Fuck you Ronald Reagan rejects. :P
Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: Ironwood on October 07, 2005, 01:54:14 AM I rue the day I lost the Mulder TMI picture.

Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: HaemishM on October 07, 2005, 09:13:38 AM It needed more cowbell.
Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: schild on October 07, 2005, 12:17:03 PM On second thought, Nirvana's "Marigold" should have been on there. Talk about posthumous shit.
Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: jinxer on October 07, 2005, 12:28:57 PM Hmm, it didn't actually show all the songs that were on the tape. It said he had to walk around while playing all TEN songs. I only heard 4 or 5. Or did I read that wrong?
Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: Samprimary on October 09, 2005, 12:08:50 PM I could have beaten that with a single search for Gabber songs.
/edit Found one already! DJ Hype - Evil Homer (simpson gabber) Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: voodoolily on October 09, 2005, 12:13:37 PM I would've included that Peter Cetera song from the Karate Kid, Mambo#5, a 311 song, some late Jethro Tull (I'm talking Broadsword and the Beast shit) and something from the Final Cut. Or maybe What's Going On from 4 Non Blondes. God, I could fill an 80 minute CD-R with my embarrassing knowledge of the craptastic.
Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: Murgos on October 11, 2005, 06:36:25 AM Crap, I kind of like The Final Cut (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0001KZM3O/qid=1129037600/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-9843611-8960725?v=glance&s=music&n=507846). I guess I shouldn't have watched The Wall at 4 am trashed every weeked between the ages of 14 and 18, probably had a seriously negative influence on my musical tastes.
Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: Sky on October 11, 2005, 06:50:42 AM Not only do I like the Final Cut, I also liked the 4 Non-Blondes. Linda Perry is teh awesome, good songwriter, great singer.
I would agree about Peter Cetera, Mambo #5. 311 have some good tunes, but they are buried amongst that same pseudoreggae song that takes up most of every album. Haven't heard later Tull, really like early Tull, though. I was digging through some of my early 80s black metal vinyl imports over the weekend, there's some stuff in there, I'd imagine. Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: Righ on October 11, 2005, 10:04:18 AM I used to play a pub variation of this called "worst song on the jukebox". Knowledge of unusal singles really helps this game. I once won with an incredible B-side. It was the RCA rerecording of "Silver Machine" by Hawkwind, which has a remake of "Psychedelic Warlords (Disappear In Smoke)" on the B-side. Being a longer song, they made the B-side 33 RPM. It's a gloriously horrible sound at 45 RPM on the pub jukebox.
Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: voodoolily on October 11, 2005, 10:34:15 AM Peter Cetera is the shittiest member of Chicago. I like Chicago, however cornball they are. I just have a soft spot for a brass section, and Make Me Smile well, just does. Color My World still makes me all misty-eyed.
The Final Cut is every crappy cliche song from The Wall stretched out to make the worst album of all time. Frankly, anything after Dark Side of the Moon can suck my ass (including The Wall, no matter what impact it had on my 16-year-old drug-addled mind). Sid Barrett ftw. (I do like Wish You Were Here and Meddle okay, even though the ninja was in the loonie bin) And Gilmore was a hottie on the cover of UmmaGumma. The best jukebox EVER was at a little dive bar in the Garden District in NO. $2 cocktails was a nice bonus, but I would've stayed just for the juke. I was having so much fun playing "impress the old black cats with my knowledge and appreciation of old-school funk" - they had a bunch of Meters and Eddie Bo and Dr. John on that shit (and Tenacious D - I mean when was the last time you saw the D on a jukebox?). Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: Murgos on October 11, 2005, 11:57:13 AM There is a pool hall near my house that has a digital jukebox with 35,000 or so songs on it. I've yet to look for something on there and not find it.
Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: El Gallo on October 13, 2005, 04:04:17 PM I will also give some props to Final Cut. I've never understood Barrett fanboiism. Yeah, it's cool to go insane and all, but really. The Gnome was fucking stupid. Dark Side, Wish You Were Here, and Animals are classics in my book, and Meddle and The Wall have very strong moments. Roger Waters died for my sins.
Back on topic, this is an amazing idea and I cannot believe that this wasn't an internet fad years ago. Throw some Steely Dan on the worst mix for me please. Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: Rasix on October 13, 2005, 04:46:32 PM Throw in the theme from Gilmore Girls (worst song evar) and some Color Me Badd.
This is a constant source of conversation between me and my wife now. Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: Llava on October 15, 2005, 04:13:37 AM (http://cover6.cduniverse.com/MuzeAudioArt/520/525618.jpg)
Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: CmdrSlack on October 15, 2005, 12:01:38 PM If there's no Air Supply songs (Making Love Out of Nothing At All is sufficiently horrible), then how bad can the mix tape be?
Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: Samprimary on October 15, 2005, 01:25:33 PM (http://cover6.cduniverse.com/MuzeAudioArt/520/525618.jpg) (http://www.acorndaily.com/images/mc_pee_pants.jpg) Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: WayAbvPar on October 17, 2005, 09:50:32 AM (http://cover6.cduniverse.com/MuzeAudioArt/520/525618.jpg) If that fucking song (Jump, Jump!) gets stuck in my head for more than a few minutes, you are a dead man. Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: Bunk on October 17, 2005, 10:24:05 AM Was trying to think of songs I'd put on such a tape over the weekend. Once I got past Celine Dion and Cher - that Kriss Kross song was the first thing I thought of.
Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: Cheddar on October 17, 2005, 10:51:06 AM Was trying to think of songs I'd put on such a tape over the weekend. Once I got past Celine Dion and Cher - that Kriss Kross song was the first thing I thought of. The key is the whole, not the individual songs. I can think of plenty of shitty songs, just throwing them onto a tape does not mean I win. Everyone should come up with a list, and winner gets 2 cool points! GO! Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: HaemishM on October 19, 2005, 11:30:54 AM Wish You Were Here was handed from God's hands to Roger Waters' head, goddamnit.
Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: Train Wreck on October 19, 2005, 02:26:51 PM I was going to say that 311 is a good band, but then again, the only songs I heard, I got off the top ten list at the iTunes store and limewired, so there's no telling the mountain of garbage they were fished from.
Same thing with Depeche Mode. I have their two greatest hits CD's and like most of the songs, but haven't heard any of their stuff outside of it. It's hard to have that many CDs without churning out some shit. I'm surprised nobody's nominated Weird Al yet. Title: Re: Shittiest mixtape ever Post by: Bunk on October 19, 2005, 04:22:23 PM Don't you go fuckin dissin on Weird Al.
