I'm still recovering...) Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: Kenrick on October 10, 2005, 08:53:56 PM Alright, time for ROUND 2: The League Championship Series
AMERICAN LEAGUE: [/size]LOS ANGELES ANGELS vs. CHICAGO WHITE SOX NATIONAL LEAGUE: HOUSTON ASTROS vs. ST. LOUIS CARDINALS Pick your winners (best 4 out of 7). Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: Rasix on October 10, 2005, 09:53:16 PM I'm happy I'm so bad at picking baseball playoffs. I picked teams I didn't like but I thought would win anyhow. I would have been 4-0 if I went on personal taste.
Sox in 6 Cards in 7 Again, happy if I'm totally wrong. Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: Margalis on October 10, 2005, 10:00:06 PM My brain told me that both the Red Sox and Yankees would lose, but I was hoping for another showdown so I took them. My picks:
Cards over Astros in 7. White Sox vs. Angels in 7. Here is a good question for all baseball fans: Is there a worse really good hitter in baseball than A-rod? He's been doing this the entire time on the Yankees. Just tonight he left about 6 men on base. It's funny to compare Jeter and A-rod. A-rod is clearly the better hitter overall, yet in the deciding game Jeter hits a solo shot then gets on to lead off the 9th - and A-rod promptly erases him with a double-play ball. A-rod is a great guy to have on your team when you are playing the Devil Rays in May. But in October he's just about the last guy you want to see up to bat. Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: Paelos on October 10, 2005, 11:09:11 PM Yes Kenrick, it was a hell of a game. I expected our bullpen to lose it for us, but never in such a fashion as giving up grand slams. And yet, it happened in the regular season. What do I know?
To give you an idea of what went on while I was watching this game, I was up at the lake this weekend. I was watching college football and enjoying a few drinks. We decided on Sunday to watch the beginning of the game before we left. Then, the Braves started winning. We figured, as all Braves fans do, ok lets ride this out to the bullpen and we'll go home. In the eighth inning, if I was older I'd have had a mild stroke. In the ninth inning, I was physically sick. I knew we were screwed going into extras. And then the miraculous happened. For about seven solid innings, our pitching stopped sucking. It just kept getting outs. Unfortunately we couldn't plate a run even if you put a naked supermodel on top of it and told them it was open season. So we continue to watch. Time drags on. It's now 4:30, and we wanted to be back at 4. Innings roll on. It's in the 13th inning and coming up on 5:30 before we finally just say fuck it and get in the car with it on the radio. We drive ALL THE WAY back from lake, approximately 60 miles, and the game is still going. I have time to sit down and watch two more innings in my own house before the thing was over. I got to see Roger Clemens make his first, and sure to be only, relief appearance. To be sure, I knew the Braves would lose it, but we can always say that we set a record doing it. Welcome to the history books boys, that's not the way I expected it. EDIT: White Sox in 7 Cards in 5 Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: Kenrick on October 11, 2005, 04:05:55 AM WHITE SOX in 5.
ASTROS in 5. Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: WayAbvPar on October 11, 2005, 09:18:30 AM Angels in 6
Cardinals in 6 Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: Shockeye on October 11, 2005, 09:20:51 AM White Sox in 5 (Angels pitching is in bad shape right now)
Astros in 6 Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: Kenrick on October 17, 2005, 05:20:15 AM WHITE SOX in 5. ASTROS in 5. One more... one more... Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: WayAbvPar on October 17, 2005, 09:43:25 AM Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: Margalis on October 17, 2005, 04:13:09 PM How could you pick the Angels with their pitching issues? Colon injured and everyone worn out, seemed impossible for them to win. Although I am surprised at how quickly they rolled over, I figured it would go 6 or 7.
Cardinals- well all I can say is can we stop calling LaRussa a genius already? He isn't, by a longshot. I chose the Cards but I'm hoping the Stros take it. Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: Raging Turtle on October 17, 2005, 09:21:36 PM  Pujols
/praying the Cards' bats will wake up for the next two games Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: Kenrick on October 17, 2005, 09:51:44 PM Well that was just about the worst thing I've ever seen. Can't wait in 10 years once that asshole is riddled with injuries like Big Mac and Barry, we'll all get to find out what type of 'roids he's on.
Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: HaemishM on October 18, 2005, 01:10:32 PM I missed making my picks for the second round. Oh well. I still wouldn't have given the Astros 6 games, and I wouldn't have thought the Angels would be out in 5. I am happy that the Sox got to the series, since that gives me hope for my Cubs. I'm pretty sure the Stros will blow it in 7 games and the Cards will get beaten in 5 games in the World Series.
Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: RhyssaFireheart on October 18, 2005, 01:30:08 PM ...gives me hope for my Cubs. Hahahahahahahaha! There is no hope for the Cubs, ever. Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: Raging Turtle on October 18, 2005, 01:39:48 PM ...gives me hope for my Cubs. Hahahahahahahaha! There is no hope for the Cubs, ever. I can't imagine a better World Series than Cards-White Sox, just so I can ask Cubs fans 'Who ya rootin for? Who ya rootin for?' over and over. Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: HaemishM on October 18, 2005, 01:59:57 PM Die, bitches.
Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: Kenrick on October 18, 2005, 04:44:30 PM If Oswalt can't win it tomorrow night, I have zero faith in Clemens in game 7.
One motherfucking strike away. :heartbreak: Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: Shockeye on October 19, 2005, 08:24:01 PM White Sox in 5 (Angels pitching is in bad shape right now) Astros in 6 Boom, baby. Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: Kenrick on October 19, 2005, 08:50:54 PM Tears of joy... so many years...... no words right now.
Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: Shockeye on October 19, 2005, 09:09:32 PM Tears of joy... so many years...... no words right now. I tried to watch most of the game, but did Bagwell get to hit at all in the game? Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: Kenrick on October 19, 2005, 09:20:24 PM Nope... but they had the camera on him and Biggio for the last out (both were in the dugout). Their reaction was like watching 1000000000 pounds lift off their shoulders.
Bagwell will most likely DH for the entire series vs. Chicago. Lamb might a little bit, too. Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: Kenrick on October 20, 2005, 05:57:30 AM LCS Results:

I'll pick the Astros in 6, because if I'm on board they are horribly fucked. PS - Fuck your little league field, Houston. Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: Kenrick on October 20, 2005, 06:47:40 PM So much hate from a "christian blogger."
Try to mellow out a little bit... 14 division championships isn't enough for you? It's an abomination on pro ball, and I think real fans would have to agree. Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: Kenrick on October 20, 2005, 08:31:30 PM At least we fill it.

Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: Paelos on October 21, 2005, 09:28:15 AM Yep, the dream is dead. It's back to the 80s for Atlanta.
Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: Kenrick on October 21, 2005, 10:36:10 AM I loved watching the Braves in the 80's! God bless Dale Murphy.
Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: Kenrick on October 26, 2005, 04:55:16 AM Alright, I've had enough baseball for this year. I just want to sleep now.

And Kendrick.. lose with dignity. The Cubs are just an easy target. No need for that. Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: HaemishM on October 26, 2005, 01:15:49 PM Cubs = ....... Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: Margalis on October 26, 2005, 04:08:43 PM They have all been good games, the Astros have just been on the losing end of them.
Although it was odd to see Crede hit a home run, turn off the TV, turn it back on 20 minutes later and see Crede is batting in the *same* inning with 5 runs on the board. Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: Kenrick on October 26, 2005, 08:32:10 PM Classy manager. I know, but don't put a fucking "d" in my name. Heammy knows I'm kidding. He's a Cubs fan. He's used to it and he can take it. I spent half my honeymoon in May in the right field Wrigley bleachers. I'm still recovering. Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: CmdrSlack on October 27, 2005, 08:35:38 AM I guess I'm happy for the Sox. It's hard to be happy for them as a born and raised Cubs fan, especially with my family. But hey, it's nice to see a Chicago team do well. At least this time they didn't lose it on purpose. Yes, I'm still bitter about 1919.
Title: Re: MLB Playoffs v2005 Post by: HaemishM on October 27, 2005, 12:15:41 PM I'm happy for the Sox because 2 curse teams have broken their shnides 2 years in a row. I'm hoping the Cubs take next year to go for a trifecta.
