Parker chased the car, which turned onto another street and slowed down. Parker says the suspect knew he was going to be caught because he put both of his hands up while still driving down the road and smoking a pipe. The chase ended in the parking lot of the Dunn American Legion post. A second officer says the suspect tried to continue smoking crack even after his car was stopped. James Ammons is charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, crack and drug paraphernalia and for refusing to stop for police and careless and reckless driving.
