Title: Fucking Cable. Post by: Strazos on September 16, 2005, 06:23:22 AM I just want to say that not having any kind of internet connectivity for 3 days sucks ass.
No bill paying. No posting. No WoW catassification. Also, I was supposed to post something for my senior seminar course....whoops. All because a kink developed in my cable line because a dresser had gotten itself placed on top of it. :| Title: Re: Fucking Cable. Post by: shiznitz on September 16, 2005, 09:46:35 AM It is not that hard to replace cable. Radioshack sells everything you need to cut the cable before the kink and attach more cable. It will probably cost you $12 all in.
Title: Re: Fucking Cable. Post by: Strazos on September 16, 2005, 11:12:51 AM It actually cost me nothing, because I had the cable company send someone out.
It's not that I can't replace a length of cable. The problem was actually figuring out what the problem was. I thought the modem was dead, when it was actually a kink in the line that killed it. Funny, I was just thinking that after a week without internet access (barring kiosks for email), I could really live without it.Title: Re: Fucking Cable. I think I'm cured ;) Your presence here tells me you are in denial. It's like a heroin addict saying that they are cured because they are only doing morphine now. You may have reduced your level of addiction but you are still addicted. Title: Re: Fucking Cable. I just had to do it, but it cost me$16 only because I got the heavy duty connections since I ran over the cable outside with the mower. Damn tech strung the cable from our last "fix" diagonal across the lawn and there wasn't enough slack to go under it 20 times while crossing the yard. I finally just ran over it and pulled it all to the side out of frustration. I got the co-ax splicer (5-6 bucks,) f-type connector crimper (6-7 bucks, but you could probably just use pliers,) and two f-type connectors ($1.60) and a coupler (two female ends, $1.80.) You could save some money on interior connectors (lower grade materials,) but really only a buck or two. Title: Re: Fucking Cable. Post by: Strazos on September 21, 2005, 10:00:23 AM Well yay, my connection died....Again, last night. Once again, this problem hit me square in the gut, as I was not able to do some assignment I had for a class.
I guess I'll try Round 2 with Tech Support when I get home. EDIT: Got home, and my connection was back up and running...yay. I was not looking forward to waiting until Next Friday to get this looked at (My guess as to when I could have had the guy show up. Weekdays suck.) Title: Re: Fucking Cable. Post by: DarkDryad on September 21, 2005, 12:17:48 PM Good luck. Mine went down for a week before they decided to send some dumbass over to look at it and when I told him what the exact problem was he checked it and yep loose wire in the PBX box. A week and a half later I fianly have DSL again. Please lord let them bill me for a full month. I havent had the oppertunity to throw a screaming shit fit in a while.
