It's almost entirely Japanese, and I can't speak Japanese. Still, it was so cool that I was sad when it ended :( This one features Marty Friedman and Paul Gilbert in a riff-off and interviews(Paul and Marty both speak Japanese). I had to dig pretty hard, but I came up with a few different episodes (all with 1 or 0 seeds) that are in various stages of DL. While looking for torrents I found an interview that explained Marty wasn't a guest; he's part of the show. He also said the format is different every week. Perhaps it would have been funny if I could speak Japanese, but it didn't have the character of the episode I posted. This one had two guys from Stratovarius, but neither could speak Japanese, so they were just in it for a short part (a guitar string changing contest, which they lost).
There was also some Japanese Judas Priest tribute band that they showed clips of and interviewed news-conference style. There was WAY less guitar playing and little of the fun found in the one I posted. The only part I found cool was when this Japanese guitar player (Yoshio, or Yoshino, or something, with a COOL looking PRS) demonstrated his portable talk box, which was a batter powered amp and speaker, mounted inside a tea kettle. He used the spout of the tea kettle to shape the sounds. |
