Title: Things I like about CoH Post by: Xanthippe on August 20, 2005, 06:24:03 PM I feel heroic at level 1.
People are more polite than most other MMOGs. Toon generator is The Best Evah. It alone is worth $14/month. Travel powers, particularly flight. I love to fly around. NPCs say nice things to you. Clear directions and nice maps. Title: Re: Things I like about CoH Post by: stray on August 20, 2005, 11:49:48 PM AoE's are so damn cool in this game. Especially melee.
The interface is probably the best yet. Very simple, intuitive, and uncluttered. It's not just one "type" of setting. The environments span everything from sci-fi, industrial, urban, fantasy, alien, whatever.. The environments span everything from sci-fi, industrial, urban, fantasy, alien, whatever.. This, I think, is what keeps me coming back. I'm a high concept player. I don't roleplay (mostly because it's really next to impossible in a MMOG, even if a lot of other people want to roleplay with you) but I absolutely have to have a story behind a character or it's just not fun. Every time I have a concept for a character, something that strikes me as "Ooooh, that would be neat" CoH almost always has the best fit out of any MMOG. I have complete freedom in what I could write. Title: Re: Things I like about CoH Post by: schild on August 22, 2005, 02:03:10 AM The endgame starts at level 1.

Giant robots. Sidekicking and Exemplaring. Good use of Instanced mission areas. Xilren Title: Re: Things I like about CoH Post by: ClydeJr on August 22, 2005, 09:33:43 AM Fighting large number of enemies instead of just 1 or 2
Good use of the z-axis Superjump is a mini-game by itself Character generator is a mini-game by itself. No other character looks like me. You can fight robots, nazis, and ninjas. CoH runs great even on my 4 year old computer No elves (I choose to believe no one picks the pointy ear costume option) (Although with archery power sets appear, I imagine we'll see plenty of Leggolasses) No camping the Beast of Poopsock hoping that it'll drop the Amulet of Catassing Once you get a travel power, you can move fast around the world. Sidekicking and exemplaring means I can play with so many more people Kheldians in dwarf form look quite silly while dancing. Global chat means I can say hi to Signe when we're on separate servers Title: Re: Things I like about CoH Post by: Signe on August 22, 2005, 10:09:06 AM HI!
Title: Re: Things I like about CoH Post by: AOFanboi on August 28, 2005, 02:01:41 PM Fighting large number of enemies instead of just 1 or 2 Well, that is made possible because the mobs attack slower than you. Any game could implement that but it would look out of place in a non-superhero genre perhaps.Title: Re: Things I like about CoH Post by: Morfiend on August 28, 2005, 02:06:08 PM I can wear tights.
Wait...... Title: Re: Things I like about CoH Post by: dEOS on August 30, 2005, 03:01:19 AM Fighting large number of enemies instead of just 1 or 2 Well, that is made possible because the mobs attack slower than you. Any game could implement that but it would look out of place in a non-superhero genre perhaps. Not quite so because they attack slowly but because either you can kill them faster than they will kill you or because you have the resistance/defense/regen-capacity/control-capacity to absorb their attacks/make them harmless. Other game where you could do such a thing is AC1 with nonmagiccasting-mobs: Tuskers, Lugians, Olthois. And Olthois are fast-hitters!!! Except that they hit you for 1 or 0 through your heavily armored combat equipment. Title: Re: Things I like about CoH Post by: Xanthippe on October 20, 2005, 07:19:20 PM I said it before, but it deserves to be said again.
The CoH community is the best I've seen in a mmog. I'm not in a guild, and whenever I'm grouped, it's a pickup group. But it's usually pleasant. Quite a difference from other games. Title: Re: Things I like about CoH Post by: Llava on October 20, 2005, 11:14:46 PM What server are you on? I should move there. Not that all my groups are bad... but there's a fairly even ratio.
Title: Re: Things I like about CoH Post by: Fargull on October 21, 2005, 09:56:04 AM I play on Virtue, and for the most part the positive to negative ratio swings highly to the postive side.
Title: Re: Things I like about CoH Post by: Nevermore on October 21, 2005, 10:46:09 AM Same here. I have far more positive experiences on Virtue than negative.
Title: Re: Things I like about CoH Post by: Signe on October 21, 2005, 10:55:05 AM I never group because everyone I meet is a dumbass.
PS Except for you people, you are all lovely. Title: Re: Things I like about CoH Post by: stray on October 21, 2005, 11:03:59 AM I used to think it was pretty bad, but then I played World of Warcraft. Coh dumbasses are tame in comparison.
...Though I do tend to have bad luck with Invuln Tanks. "LEEEEROYY" should have been something first popularized from CoH, not WoW. There are more Leeroy's in City of Heroes than not. Title: Re: Things I like about CoH Post by: Xanthippe on October 21, 2005, 11:59:09 AM Lately, I play B-Girl (29 ill/ff controller) or Cranky Spouse (16 DM/regen scrapper) on Victory.
Also have Bernadette BBQ and Cranky Spouse on Guardian. Both servers seem to have mostly good people playing. I've ignored a few but not many. (It's nothing like WoW, where my /ignore list filled up far too quickly.) Add me to global, if you like (@Astara) - I'm trying to figure out how to make and play a tank, so I'll be starting a new toon soonish. Also, I have no problems with /sk'ing or /ex'ing people. I don't watch the bar, I just like to play. |
