I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this around here yet, but it appears that Hitchhikers guide has finally begun filming:

Call me crazy, but wasnt there already a HHG movie done a while back?

There was a BBC series that didn't cover all of the books (it stopped right when things were getting good, IIRC).  But I believe that's it.

Douglas Adams was working on this movie when he passed away.  He's been trying to get this thing made for a long long time.

Bad news is they added a completely new supporting character (in a big role)... good news is, that it apparently was Adams who invented the character, when he was working on the script.

It was also rather poorly made and failed time and time again to deliver anything funny.

I thought that it did a good job with the stories in the Guide itself, also the space fleet that gets eaten by a dog bit was well done.  

Who the hell is the Hoover Voover person that Malkovich is playing?
