Title: New Studies into the differences between Men & Women Post by: Merusk on August 08, 2005, 09:41:41 AM I'm sticking this into useless news because it just didn't seem to fit in General. It's 2 pages long, so I'm not going to C&P it.
http://articles.health.msn.com/id/100108044 Lots of nifty info into current thoughts about the development differences between men & women and the role testosterone plays. Also, some insight into why men are better at spatial relationships while women are more big-picture and have a (typicaly) higher vocabulary. Nifty stuff. You know what you did! Title: Re: New Studies into the differences between Men & Women Post by: Samwise on August 09, 2005, 04:17:56 PM And if you don't know, I'm not going to tell you.
Title: Re: New Studies into the differences between Men & Women Post by: Merusk on August 09, 2005, 04:22:39 PM How could you say you don't know anyway! It's like you don't even know her!

Title: Re: New Studies into the differences between Men & Women Post by: Llava on August 09, 2005, 05:15:59 PM You don't post like you used to.
Do you still love me?! Title: Re: New Studies into the differences between Men & Women Post by: Pococurante on August 09, 2005, 07:31:17 PM Ah the ladies seem to be girlcotting the thread.

Title: Re: New Studies into the differences between Men & Women Post by: Samwise on August 09, 2005, 10:58:31 PM Sorry, that's womyncotting. Because "woman" is also demeaning because it contains the word "man".
Title: Re: New Studies into the differences between Men & Women Post by: Signe on August 10, 2005, 03:52:30 AM Samwise brings up a point of some sort and whatnot.

Title: Re: New Studies into the differences between Men & Women Post by: Yegolev on August 10, 2005, 11:32:54 AM I don't understand how, after knowing me for over ten years, she doen't seem to understand that I do not know what I did. If I knew what I did to cause The Yelling, I would not have done that in the first place. RAGE AGAINST THE LOGIC-BLOCK!
Title: Re: New Studies into the differences between Men & Women Post by: voodoolily on August 10, 2005, 12:39:02 PM You don't post like you used to. Do you still love me?! Maybe this was the problem in my last relationship. I was dating a woman! (not really, so spare me the onslaught) Title: Re: New Studies into the differences between Men & Women Post by: WayAbvPar on August 10, 2005, 12:41:50 PM Pics plskthx.
Title: Re: New Studies into the differences between Men & Women Post by: voodoolily on August 10, 2005, 12:49:44 PM Heh, yeah. That.
Quote And perhaps autism represents an "extreme form" of the male brain. In your FACE, men! Title: Re: New Studies into the differences between Men & Women Post by: Samwise on August 10, 2005, 12:55:52 PM Hm... and people with Asperger's Syndrome (a mild form of autism) are known to do better than average in technical jobs - there's a theory that Asperger's is actually becoming a more common trait in some areas, like Silicon Valley, because people with it have better chances of snaring high-paying jobs, making it genetically advantageous.
So if being male is another form of mild autism... Title: Re: New Studies into the differences between Men & Women Post by: voodoolily on August 10, 2005, 01:17:34 PM Don't confuse fiscally advantageous with genetically advantageous. It doesn't matter how much you make if you can't look the girl in the eye long enough to ask her out.
Title: Re: New Studies into the differences between Men & Women Post by: Samwise on August 10, 2005, 01:27:49 PM The fact that the Asperger population keeps increasing in those areas would seem to indicate they aren't having any trouble reproducing.
Title: Re: New Studies into the differences between Men & Women Post by: Yegolev on August 10, 2005, 01:36:27 PM Don't confuse fiscally advantageous with genetically advantageous. The women do. Title: Re: New Studies into the differences between Men & Women Post by: voodoolily on August 10, 2005, 01:39:53 PM The fact that the Asperger population keeps increasing in those areas would seem to indicate they aren't having any trouble reproducing. Is it perhaps that autistic geeks are, now stay with me on this, MOVING there? For jobs, perhaps? (I didn't mean for that to sound as snotty as it does, but fuck it. I'm leaving it.) Title: Re: New Studies into the differences between Men & Women Post by: WayAbvPar on August 10, 2005, 01:41:58 PM I don't know anything about Asperger's so forgive me if this is an ignorant question: Could it be environmental rather than genetic? Or maybe PG&E is spitting out a new batch of super chemicals nearby?
Title: Re: New Studies into the differences between Men & Women Post by: Samwise on August 10, 2005, 01:48:51 PM Is it perhaps that autistic geeks are, now stay with me on this, MOVING there? For jobs, perhaps? (I didn't mean for that to sound as snotty as it does, but fuck it. I'm leaving it.) Actually, the rising Asperger population is a result of a higher percentage of kids with Asperger's being born to Asperger parents - so yes, the geeks originally moved in to find jobs, but now they're all settling down and having kids, so the geek population is exploding without any immigration at this point. Some people are really freaking out about this because in some cases you'll see two people with Asperger's get married and produce kids that have it even stronger. I for one welcome our new uber-geek overlords. Title: Re: New Studies into the differences between Men & Women Post by: voodoolily on August 10, 2005, 02:04:28 PM I for one welcome our new uber-geek overlords. :roflcopter: I guess since the women have it too, it's a safe assumption that these people meet online? They'll spawn a new race of socially inept technical geniuses! I'll make a fortune on my stock in Prozac and Blizzard Entertainment! Hooray! Title: Re: New Studies into the differences between Men & Women Post by: Samwise on August 10, 2005, 02:06:57 PM My money's on them meeting at work, actually. It seems like a good number of geek couples form that way.
Title: Re: New Studies into the differences between Men & Women Post by: Yegolev on August 12, 2005, 07:52:35 AM Homo Superior FTW. I will spare most of you from The Purging when we come to power.
Title: Re: New Studies into the differences between Men & Women Post by: El Gallo on August 12, 2005, 07:59:43 AM Much more likley that there are more Asperger's patients right now because there are more doctors who have realized they can make a fuckton of money diagnosing people as Asberger's patients and more drug companies realizing the same.
