Title: BF2: Serious gripes Post by: Big Gulp on August 01, 2005, 06:24:56 AM Firstly, I suck. Hard. This is neither Dice's nor EA's fault, however. I can't rack up points for shit. Tried medic, tried support, tried engineer and I'm still sucking hind tit. Maybe I'm just one of those guys who are meant to be cannon fodder, but man, it's getting old.
What is Dice's fault is the goddamned bunny hopping. Sometimes a lovely sample of humanity decides to meld the bunny hop with insta-prone at the top of their jump, which is even better. In this day and age how could they let some horseshit like this go? They really need to patch this crap out of the game ASAP. ETA: How in the fuck do you zoom the sniper rifle? Hitting the mousewheel just switches weapons and no other button combo seems to do anything. Title: Re: Serious gripes Post by: Merusk on August 01, 2005, 06:30:58 AM Right Click on the sniper rifle.
I agree on the bunnyhopping, It's getting way out of hand. I had someone stab me to death while bunnyhopping out of the way of my SAW the other day. Title: Re: Serious gripes Post by: Big Gulp on August 01, 2005, 06:32:17 AM Right Click on the sniper rifle. Understood, but that's just the default zoom. Can't you zoom further from there? Title: Re: Serious gripes Post by: Trippy on August 01, 2005, 06:32:42 AM I can't even remember the last time I died to an Assault who wasn't doing the bunny hopping grenade launcher cheese.
Title: Re: Serious gripes Post by: Trippy on August 01, 2005, 06:33:21 AM Right Click on the sniper rifle. Understood, but that's just the default zoom. Can't you zoom further from there?Title: Re: Serious gripes Post by: WayAbvPar on August 01, 2005, 10:48:44 AM Yeah, the bunnyhopping is complete and total bullshit. I was killed the other day by a guy who A) drove past me in a buggy, B) stopped the car, C) exited the car, D) bunnyhopped 3 times to get next to me, and D) killed me. With a fucking KNIFE. Oh, and I had a support LMG and was shooting at him the entire time.
I am certainly not the best BF2 player that ever lived, but I like to think that I am at least average. No fucking way in hell that guy should get anywhere near someone from the front for a knife kill unless they are AFK, or try to reload in front of him. Title: Re: Serious gripes Post by: Sky on August 01, 2005, 12:45:20 PM I agree. They need to up the spread penalty for running and remove the ability to fire weapons (or go prone) during a jump. Of course, that won't help against grenade launchers, since they have no accuracy penalty, ever. Part of why I use the launcher so much is that even though I'm pretty good with a rifle, I tend to get killed before I can kill someone dead in my sites, even if I'm prone and they're bunny hopping. Like almost every time I die. So I say fuck it and just stick to the grenade launcher for 90% of the time.
That knife is really goddamned nasty, too. Better off swapping to it than to the pistol up close, imo (I swap to the pistol because it's faster than reloading your rifle). Title: Re: Serious gripes Post by: Furiously on August 01, 2005, 01:23:35 PM I've tried to pull the knife out - for close bunnyhopping action - but seems like I can't run and stab.
Also - find the no bs server. They love to kick hoppers. Problem is if I find a hopper - I do it right back to them. Title: Re: Serious gripes Post by: sinij on August 01, 2005, 01:50:48 PM What pisses me off is how inacurate al hand-heldl weapons are. I mean never-held-weapon-in-hands-before inaccurate.
Title: Re: Serious gripes Post by: Furiously on August 01, 2005, 03:32:48 PM Really? I've run out of ammo on top of a hotel before and sniped people with my pistol.
I've noticed if you are moving or your target is moving, your accuracy falls a ton thought. Which explains people bunnyhopping. Title: Re: Serious gripes Post by: Toast on August 01, 2005, 03:44:24 PM Really? I've run out of ammo on top of a hotel before and sniped people with my pistol. I've noticed if you are moving or your target is moving, your accuracy falls a ton thought. Which explains people bunnyhopping. Unfortunately, the pistol is very low damage, so you have to land a lot of shots to kill. It makes it seem less accurate than it is because you have to shoot so much. Title: Re: Serious gripes Post by: Jimbo on September 10, 2005, 10:41:23 AM I've found that the shot gun is the luv against bunny hoppers. I like playing support and slinging the lead with my saw, but the damn bunny hoppers make me respawn and hunt them down with the shotgun or sniper rifle.
That or get in a lav or tank and blow them to bits :-D Title: Re: Serious gripes Post by: stray on September 10, 2005, 10:47:07 AM Love the MEC shotgun. I should it more often though..
Title: Re: Serious gripes Post by: WayAbvPar on September 12, 2005, 03:22:25 PM My newest serious gripe is that the patch promised 'at the end of August' is nowhere to be seen. ARRRGGGH.
Title: Re: Serious gripes Post by: Trippy on September 12, 2005, 04:01:44 PM My newest serious gripe is that the patch promised 'at the end of August' is nowhere to be seen. ARRRGGGH. Their mid-August Community Update (http://www.eagames.com/official/battlefield/battlefield2/us/editorial.jsp?src=communityupdate_081905&ncc=1) stated that they weren't going to make the original end of August date.Title: Re: Serious gripes Post by: Jimbo on September 12, 2005, 09:06:57 PM I've actually been having a blast playing a field medic. The same damn thing I did before...but hell it is funny to see me running people down with my defib and yelling clear as I get a kill :-D
That alone has made me want to keep on playing the game...I still suck at flying...suck at most shooting...but rock out in vehicles...here come the crazy medic with his ambulance from hell 8-) Title: Re: Serious gripes Post by: Sky on September 19, 2005, 11:58:45 AM I used to love playing crazy taxi in 1942, just grab a jeep or kubelwagon and yell 'hop in!' behind the lines...drive someone near some action and yell 'bail out!'...rinse and repeat with much zany driving in between.
Title: Re: Serious gripes Post by: Furiously on September 21, 2005, 06:20:21 AM I think not strapping 4 packages of c4 to your vehicle should have gotten you a ban,
Title: Re: Serious gripes Post by: Toast on September 21, 2005, 09:50:24 AM So, has Dice fixed any of the gripes yet? I've been out for a while.
Title: Re: Serious gripes Post by: Trippy on September 21, 2005, 10:44:43 PM So, has Dice fixed any of the gripes yet? I've been out for a while. Nope. Here's a chat log (http://www.bf2.se/index.php?m=single&id=399), though, that talks about some of the upcoming changes.Title: Re: Serious gripes Post by: Shockeye on September 23, 2005, 12:14:58 PM What a completely stupid chat.
Quote #4 Will there be something done to rid the game of the so called bunnyhopping. As people being able to go prone, jump, prone, jump hasn't the slightest bit of realism in it.Also the whole tk/punish system really needs a overhaul as too many times people get punished/kicked from servers because of other peoples stupidity ie walking out in front of armour/transport etc which no doubt results in a punish. TK wise we have made some changes that should reduce the number of accidental TKs. Such as the vehicle collison system that was mentioned earlier. 'Dolphin Diving' does look pretty wierd, i agree, we are keeping an eye on this issue and may address it in an upcoming patch That's great. Bunnyhopping dipshits will still run wild. Quote #18 Do you think you are cool, actually? :) without a doubt! wtf Quote #27 will you be able to have sex with other players on new patch? no. your free to add that in a mod though Hot Battlefield Coffee anyone? Quote #28 Will the new patch fix the problem concerning AA-missiles skipping enemy targets and instead head for a random target, even though allready locked on to a heatsource? The AA-missiles have been improved to better hit their target Finally a useful fix. Quote #39 why is bf2 so boring It's not. Why is this chat so stupid? Quote #61 do you think it is real to expect players to play 20000 hours for a war The original targets for the unlocks / awards were based on actual BF1942 data. Crazy though it might sound, there are people out there with those kinds of numbers. However we have tweaked the values a little, so you should be able to see a difference in the new patch. Ok, so they based it on 1942 data, a game that has been out for how many years? Quote #64 can I get a refund for the price I paid for BF2, as I am finding it a waste of time at this point to try and mod without any real support an official modding documention is under development But the refund...? Title: Re: Serious gripes Post by: schild on September 23, 2005, 09:54:47 PM Wow. that really was the worst dev chat ever. I had to look as I couldn' t believe some of the questions/answers you c&pd.

I had to look as I couldn' t believe some of the questions/answers you c&pd. Maybe it's a swedish thing. Title: Re: Serious gripes Post by: Toast on September 26, 2005, 12:49:55 PM At least they are fixing the AA missiles. It shouldn't take this long for a completely obvious imbalance to be addressed. I just started to get mad all over again while writing this post.
Title: Re: Serious gripes Post by: WayAbvPar on September 26, 2005, 12:54:04 PM Why so angry? They are only a fucking month behind their self-predicted 'schedule'.
I am about 1000 points from my 2nd upgrade. I hope they change the point tracking somehow, or I will never see a third upgrade. I can't play 12 hours a day on closed servers to cheat my point total up, after all. Title: Re: Serious gripes Post by: Jimbo on September 26, 2005, 03:59:55 PM Hell, I've never played on a server that lets me get points.
Title: Re: Serious gripes Post by: Furiously on September 27, 2005, 09:44:39 AM You need to get in a helicopter group.
