I remember back on WT someone had pictures of most people up somewhere. Was wondering if that was still up? If not, I can start a new one. Was nice to see the people you bitch at.

That was run by Oxenfree and her husband Zen, both are extreme schild haters, and post at corpnews now. She still has the images up, but the majority are the corp guys, not the f13 guys.

I was thinking today some one should put up a f13 rl images site. Let me know when you get it up. Or maybe w ecould have schild add a secition to the site for peoples images.

I realize Oxenfree doesn't like schild, but why do we need to re-create the wheel here? Has she refused to add any more pics to her site? Has she taken the site down?

Or is it just another step in trying to distance F13 and corp, despite the fact that we were a single community just a couple of months ago?

Maybe the two sites' readership is distancing themselves more than any active distancing is being done by the heads of either site?

Again, the notion of picking one over the other just grates on me. So many of us are still visiting both sites regularly, even though nobody seems to actually be discussing much of anything....save for a fair amount of bumpfuzzling over CoH.

Anyway, I'm not going to derail further by talking about the split. I just don't get why we need two photo archives for two sites that seem to produce about 10-20 meaningful posts a day combined.

It wasn't so long ago that you averaged more than that by yourself, Haemish. Or me, for that matter.

I don't visit Corp, so I really wouldn't know about the other archive. I think that was pretty obvious from my original post. I'm not trying to distance. I'd put Corp people up too if someone feels like cross-posting. I find it childish for someone to deny certain people having their picture posted because of the website they visit.

Yknow, I made the comment that I wasn't going to derail the thread, and I'm going to stick to that.

95%+ of my posts on WTO involved contributing to ACTIVE DISCUSSIONS THAT I FOUND INTERESTING. The remainder were pointing out the occasional news story that I thought would make for interesting discussion (as did many others). I don't see why I should be expected to carry the conversation now.

So pardon me for wanting to actually see activity levels return to something resembling normal (GenDisc often goes an hour or more without a post nowadays), as opposed to watching this devolve into a COH guild forum.

I don't see why we need to create a totally separate community photo archive, on the sheer basis of "Oxenfree don't like schild". Has anyone even tried submitting photos to Oxen since the split? If she has no objection, why the need to create an additional archive?

The only answer I've seen is Haemish's agreement that it's about further distancing F13 from the folks at corpnews. I happen to think that is patently idiotic.

I would understand if Oxen refused to include photos of F13 posters, but AFAIK, nobody even bothered to try sending her a photo.

I actively read another message board at snopes.com.  They keep a picture thread going year round.  It seems silly for oxenfree to duplicate the efforts of snopes, we should all just go there and post our pictures instead.  It strikes me as silly and unnecessary that oxen made a new picture page when there is already another one that exists on the net.

It was a waterthread community pic archive. WTO is now defunct, and the waterthread.org URL now redirects to this site. Call me crazy for thinking we could save everyone a bit of trouble by sticking with the same photo archive.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't dislike anyone at either site enough that I can't stand to see a picture of them. It's something most folks glance at maybe once or twice a year...so what's the big deal?

If it's no big deal either way, my theory is that less effort > more effort.

I have no problem with anyone posting their picture on Oxenfree's photo archive... I've thought about sending her one of myself, if I wanted all you degenerates to get a look at my mug. Which I'm not entirely sure that I do.

By the same token, I have no problem with someone wanting to set up an F13 photo archive as well. Since, we are, after all, a separate site, with a slightly different readership, though obviously some overlap occurs given our shared interests in similar subject matter.

There is no "one site to rule them all" and hasn't been since LtM.net.

Actually, the avatar I have on right now was Pika's avatar at one time, like cevik said, at the peak of p2p.  Somewhere in the randomness of the images is one of me at the fresh young age of 19 (5 years ago), with my ears looking oddly dumbo-ish.  Guess I was a late bloomer.

I am glad you grew into your ears.  They were quite extroidinary.  I am sure if you could have learned to wiggle them, you would have been able to fly.

Scotland is lovely.  Glasgow is one of the most fun cities I've ever been to.  They deep fry everything... even pizza.  Most of the men you see in kilts today are wearing them for a wedding.  They really screw them up with those horrid Prince Charles jackets, though.  I haven't seen my husband in a kilt since his sister's wedding 10 years ago.  He was lovely and wore what all good Scot's wear under their kilt.  One of the reasons I married him is that we are both wegians.  Given the choice to live anywhere I wanted, however, I would still choose Amsterdam, or somewhere close by.  Legal reefer and longs days spent in the Van Gogh... I could die happy.
