Damn!  I was all geared up for some Peter Gabriel!

I was thinking Phil Collins myself.

They are both bald and they are both British. Why choose one over the other? (Except Gabriel makes more interesting music solo than Collins.)

The new Genesis I haven't heard yet, except one song at the end of a band documentary. Genesis sans Collins is just wrong - like Deep Purple without Gillian and the Bailey years of Iron Maiden. Then again, fans said the same when Gabriel left I suppose.

Genesis without Peter Gabriel was just wrong.  Phil Collins is a great, steaming pile of gooey mediocre pop music with ho-hum lyrics.

I liked him in that movie, though.  What was it called?  Oh right... Who Framed Roger Rabbit?   :-P

Come on, now. Phil's had two good songs in his solo career - In the Air Tonight and I Don't Care Anymore. And the first album or two sans Gabriel were pretty good. But Gabriel was the man, hippy flower suit and all.

No, that was another bald, short Brit: Bob Hoskins. Collins was in Buster, about a train robber. And bit parts in Hook (where Hoskins played Smee) and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. (Bang, Chitty... *blam*)

In other news, Daniel Radcliffe, the movie version of Harry Potter, is 16 today (Saturday) according to IMDb.

I was joking.  I love Bob Hoskins.

Then I assume you wept after watching the Super Mario Brothers movie?  :cry:

I didn't even know there was a Mario Brothers movie, let alone a super one!

Do you know that my sister and loads of other people reckoned he was from New York or at least American after Roger Rabbit?  He fooled everyone.  He's a wonderful actor.

In The Air Tonight is one of my karaoke songs, but I do it with a little death-metal twinge.

Phil Collins wasn't in any movies that I'm aware of, but he was awesome on Miami Vice.

I thought that early Genesis sounded a bit too much like the Moody Blues. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Those were good days, better days.  The sun shone brighter, red bouncy balls really bounced to the moon, and Justin Hayward could read poetry over vinyl that would make even Rod McKuen die of diabetes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rod_McKuen).

Ok from now on Genesis is a forbidden word unless the thread is about SEGA. My dissapointment cannot be measured in metric!

Dashed? They were beaten to a bloody pulp by a cute lizard. Loved the gore though.

I think it's cool and enjoyed the trailer. I want to see the documentary now. And French does not frighten me in the way it does other Americans. That is to say, it does not inspire hatred of the French people or culture. ;)

On another note, Delicatessen (yet another French flick) is quite good.

I love the French.

And Sean Penn.

And Shadowbane.

And many other things very few here agree with me about.  :-)

Anyways, I loved Microcosmos, but it's not something I would usually seek out. I'll watch Genesis if and when it comes on TV.

As far as French movies go, the New Wave still reigns supreme. It's the best period in film imho.

Delicatessan was awesome. City of Lost Children, too, obviously. If Genesis comes to the Imax in town, I'll really want to see it. (I tend to think Imax is overdoing it except for these kinds of things)

Although Delicatessan was good, I can't ever watch it again.  The guy who introduced me to Delicatessan also forced me to watch a some really fucked-up Edith Massey film (not one of the John Waters ones) while I was on a really hard trip one time.  For some reason, I cannot separate the two things now.  Needless to say, Desperate Living + a head full of acid = The Fear.

Ah for me that experience was The Stuntman (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081568/).  The WW1 battlefield scene destroyed me.  I didn't squeeze cactus juice again for almost a year.  I should watch it again just to purge the engram.  And because I'm a huge O'Toole fan.
