Title: Apache update
Post by: Shockeye on July 17, 2005, 02:28:54 AM
I played with a few Apache settings, broke a few things, then pieced them back together. It seems to be running again.

I did turn on gzip compression since my heart bleeds for you people still on dial-up.

I've gotten into the habit of copying the whole of the text of my posts before submission, an unconscious habit I got into back on some unstable phpbb boards. Whew.

unstable phpbb boards

That's redundant.

That's redundant.
... but then, redundancy is good. Dynamic routing and all that, you know.

I'm not still on dial up, I'm on dialup again.  Dammit.  Anybody in Chicago got a job?

Apache updated again due to some security problems with a previous version of php.

Also, I'm seeing around 80% reduction in file sizes due to gzip compression.

And I'm seeing some pretty good performance on dialup.  If the rest of the web was like this, life would be good, and my phone bill smaller.
