Title: Irth Online Post by: WindupAtheist on June 17, 2005, 12:59:01 AM Supposed to be out in six weeks or so. Friends say beta is an unmitigated disaster. Business as usual.

Title: Re: Irth Online Post by: WindupAtheist on June 17, 2005, 01:26:50 AM Well, now you know they haven't fixed it. The fun part was hearing their newbish hopes after reading the official website, having them scoff at my cynicism, and then being proven completely right.
Title: Re: Irth Online Post by: Signe on June 17, 2005, 05:41:33 AM I played for a couple of hours or so. I didn't like anything about it. They won't stop sending me mail.

That is pretty much the working philosophy of this board. Title: Re: Irth Online Post by: Nebu on June 17, 2005, 08:42:53 AM Supposed to be out in six weeks or so. Friends say beta is an unmitigated disaster. Business as usual. Spent some time in beta. Rather than state a lengthy diatribe, I'll just say "listen to your friends". IT'S GAME UNDER DEVELOPMENT THAT THE DEVELOPERS HAVE OPENED FOR PUBLIC SO WE CAN HELP THEM CREATE BEST GAME EVER Yeah see, most developers wouldn't have been so generous. Title: Re: Irth Online Post by: Pococurante on June 17, 2005, 12:09:43 PM I was invited in very early since I was an avid sphere hoster. I left after about three weeks on the internal boards. I wish the spamail would stop. Color me completely unsurprised the product turned out badly - this was the gang that couldn't shoot straight when they were making sphere - the ongoing naivete was too painful to bear especially knowing they were burning cash with no horsepower to deserve it. They would have been better off taking RunUO's open source and scripting their own version of a '98 Red Dread server. Certainly the VCs would have been better off.
