Title: MSN Linage Portal Hacked Post by: Evangolis on June 03, 2005, 06:25:21 PM I expect most here have no exposure, but here is the link to an MSNBC story on this:
.Hack Indeed (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8078108/) The short version: Glad to see security is job 1 over at Microsoft. Here is their reassuring comment to America: Quote A Microsoft spokesman, Adam Sohn, said the company was confident its English-language Web sites were not vulnerable to the same type of attack. Glad to know that "It can't happen here" God, I miss Frank Zappa. Anyway, never mind the mumblings of an old guy. Onward. Here is a quote from the article, which suggests an appalling level of cluelessness about how this will be seen in South Korea: Quote But their target — passwords to game accounts — lessened the significance of the break-in since the hacker software appeared not to collect any network or banking passwords. If the hackers are ever publically identified, I predict 24 hour protection will be required to get them to trial alive. Title: Re: MSN Linage Portal Hacked Post by: Shockeye on June 03, 2005, 07:07:44 PM I liked how they tried to get in touch with Microsoft over the Memorial Day weekend, but were unable. I didn't realize that anti-trust stuff hurt Microsoft so bad that they can't afford to keep people on staff over holidays.
