Title: Pizza belongs in a triangle.
Post by: voodoolily on May 28, 2005, 05:21:01 PM
Does anybody check out Homestar Runner (http://www.homestarrunner.com/)? or watch Strongbad emails (http://www.homestarrunner.com/sbemail.html)?

How' bout Teen Girl Squad (http://www.homestarrunner.com/tgs8.html)?

This one's my favorite.  Thought y'all might enjoy (if you aren't already privvy).

Edit: my type-fu is weak.

The gaming shop here has been advertising that they now have Homestar Runner shirts, or something.  From what I'd seen in the past, I'd thought it was pretty dumb, but decided to give it a chance.

That was possibly the stupidest thing I've ever seen.

If this is something that 'gamers' really like, it's no wonder modern games are so bad.

Did you just look at the start of the site Alkiera, or did you get in to the Strongbad emails? Strongbad is the main reason most people go to the site. Personally, Homestar and the other characters pissed me off after watching five minutes. The Strongbad emails are worth it, though.

Teen Girl Squad sucks.

Sigh. I knew you guys weren't deep enough to understand the beauty. Are you the kind of dorks that think Monty Python is funny? Maybe that's the problem.

Black Adder
Guest and his gang
Jay and Silent Bob
Full Frontal Nerdity
Broken Lizard
Peter Sellers
Strongbad

Overall, I have a pretty varied taste in humor. Oh, and shit like this:

I laugh at everything.

Teen Girl Squad isn't entirely bad.  I don't think it's gotten any better since the first one, though.  As with most things on that site, the fact that it was a complete non sequitur was what made it funny.  After eight episodes it's sort of lost that magic.

I'm probably going to end up like Senor Cardgage in ten years.

Strongbad is funny. The rest of the site however, particularly Teen Girl Squad is not. Also. It's old news.

Voodoo, we're a forum full of popculture junkies. You should have noticed by now. Asking "Does anybody read Strongbad" here is like going to a chinese restaurant and asking if they serve rice.

I don't think Comic Book Guy's hairdo counts as a full mullet.  It lacks bangs.

I like most of the homestarrunner site, but I'm not the biggest fan of the puppet stuff or the Teen Girl Squad.  SBEmail is consistently good, and a lot of the holiday toons are funny in a way that only the Simpsons approaches consistently.

One thing I think is cool is the fact that (according to a totally uncredited and possibly apocryphal story) the creators were offered their own Cartoon Network show but turned it down to keep it in its original context.

Rite? I mean the Simpsons haven't been consistantly funny since the third or fourth season.

Maybe they hit the mark less often, but when they hit it, IMO anyway it's still a good hit.

They have too been consistently funny.  Take that back or I'll start a Kubrick-hate thread!

I didn't start this thread. And you're right, the Simpsons are funny one to four times per episode. I demand more than a couple gags if I'm dedicating thirty minutes of my life to something. Time isn't free.

Malcolm in the Middle, Family Guy, and Futurama replaced the simpsons for me years ago.  I don't watch simpsons anymore unless it's on while I flip through channels.
