Title: Revisiting Deus Ex 2: Now with hot showering action. Post by: Fabricated on May 13, 2005, 12:01:16 PM I was bored, so I fired up Deus Ex 2 again to see if anything fun and deviant (http://www.it-he.org) could be done with it.
My first order of business was saving the guard that dies in the scripted explosion at the beginning of the game. This can be done by carefully throwing all of the junk from your apartment down the hall so as to break the guard's pathfinding. This causes Alex to hallucinate and say that he did indeed see the guard die in all the rest of his dialog afterwards. I forgot to turn on FRAPS when I first succeeded, so I have no screenshots. I tried again later with FRAPS on, and I just couldn't reproduce it. Performance anxiety I guess. Besides, he doesn't drop his ammo if he dies. I personally thought Billie was obnoxious, and smelly. So, I herded her into her bathroom for some hot low-poly shower action with a series of gentle nudges. However, when I turned the water on I discovered that she is both severely allergic and highly aroused by the toxic sludge that counts for water in the future, since it actually did damage to her. (http://img190.echo.cx/img190/6548/shower19xe.jpg) A very long shower later, Billie succumbed to Seattle's filthy, filthy water. (http://img253.echo.cx/img253/8411/shower21ol.jpg) I casually picked up her body and took it outside, where the Janitor proceeded to tell me the obvious, and ignore the lifeless body slung over my shoulder. (http://img148.echo.cx/img148/4935/shower36qo.jpg) Mysteriously, Billie was absent from the booth she lectures you from when everything goes further to shit and you have to evacuate the building. Her ghost gave me a brain phone call though. ...and then the game crashed to desktop. Sigh. Title: Re: Revisiting Deus Ex 2: Now with hot showering action. The rest of the building escape is pretty dull by comparison (mostly consisting of me kicking helpfully placed toxic gas containers into rooms and shooting them), ignoring the fun that can be had by throwing corpses into boxes and carts to see the poorly implemented Havok physics engine shit all over itself. (http://img59.echo.cx/img59/6131/de214vn.jpg) Right when you leave the building is one of my very favorite parts of the game. Well, actually it IS my favorite, period. You walk around the corner 10 feet away from the entrance and proceed to get mugged. (http://img59.echo.cx/img59/4554/punk15uu.jpg) Naturally, being the biomodded, badassed, psycho I am, I tell them to go fuck themselves, and then I hide behind the WTO troopers and their dual gatling gun weilding security bot. (http://img99.echo.cx/img99/9981/punk23jp.jpg) After negotiations cease, the thugs are so sorry about the sordid ordeal they allow me to have all their stuff and agree to cohabitate in the dumpster.
