Title: No more "full-on Satanic" bands for Dave Mustaine. Post by: Shockeye on May 10, 2005, 12:39:05 PM Quote from: Ultimate Guitar CKY Stop Mustaine (http://ultimate-guitar.com/news/general_music_news/cky_stop_mustaine.html) CKY guitarist/vocalist Deron Miller has slammed Megadeth mainman Dave Mustaine for threatening to cancel any shows where "full-on Satanic" bands are also scheduled to appear (read story on UG). In a statement sent to Blabbermouth.net, Miller wrote, "reading that Rotting Christ has to cancel shows because of Dave Mustaine's recent and absurdly sudden Christianity is one of the most obviously ridiculous dramatic newslines in music. This from the guy that wrote 'Wake Up Dead'. "Dave, I love Megadeth, but join reality. Metallica was more succesful...so what?! Get over it. And now all of a sudden Christ is your savior... How weak. Take some credit for your own accomplishments. "Remember in the '80s when the parents of your fans insisted that you were Satanic? You have turned into them. Stop creating drama. Your music is suffering and the fans have noticed. You've given Rotting Christ the 'Hook In Mouth'!!!!!!! Don't ruin your legacy for the longtime supporters." Quote from: Blabbermouth.net MEGADETH's DAVE MUSTAINE: 'I Got Saved In 2002' - May 10, 2005 (http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=36522) MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has posted the following message in the "Forums" section of the band's official web site: "People don't really have to guess how I feel on issues; that is a benefit of being outspoken. So, I have to say that I am stunned with the inconsiderate posts and threads here about my stand for something that is important to me, and people acting like this is new news. "So what if I played with a band in question [ROTTING CHRIST] in 2001. I got saved in 2002. Do the math. "Also, we have very laidback guidelines here — basically treat me the way you want to be treated (unless you want to be treated like a turd) and we will all get along fine. I don't attack you, I don’t push my beliefs on you, I still try my best to love you all, and accept the good with the bad. "I stick up for my friends, show up to do the right thing, and stand proud for my beliefs. If you don't like it, then go see someone else's concerts, or go to someone else's site. Its just that simple. "The sad thing is that this all happened over a band that was never even confirmed on the Greek concert. Rest assured, many people here revealed their true colors over this. And I want to thank each and everyone who took the time out of their busy schedule to stand alongside me; whether you have/had the same beliefs or not. "I still love you all. Now, try to stay out of trouble for a while, ok?" Title: Re: No more "full-on Satanic" bands for Dave Mustaine. Post by: Zephyr on May 10, 2005, 12:51:47 PM Someone needs to get Dave hooked back on the smack, maybe teach him to shoot between the toes so he doesn't mess up the nerves in his arm again.
Title: Re: No more "full-on Satanic" bands for Dave Mustaine. Post by: stray on May 10, 2005, 12:58:08 PM Damnit.... :x
I wish I could say something here. Maybe offer an anecdote, comment on Rotting Christ, or Mustaine's talent....but I can't. I have nothing except this stupid post. Once again: Truly Useless News. Title: Re: No more "full-on Satanic" bands for Dave Mustaine. Post by: stray on May 10, 2005, 01:09:24 PM Oh wait...Here's something:
Metalheads generally have shit for brains. They're remarkably stupid people.....Except (ironically) Dave Mustaine. Not sure if this is relevant or not though. Title: Re: No more "full-on Satanic" bands for Dave Mustaine. Post by: Paelos on May 10, 2005, 01:23:54 PM The man found Christ and wants to change his life. Good on him. The rest of the world doesn't have to understand.
Title: Re: No more "full-on Satanic" bands for Dave Mustaine. Post by: tazelbain on May 10, 2005, 02:46:34 PM Except now he's enforcing his will on others to conform to his new found religion. It's his call, but it makes him an ass and an hypocrite. When Dave starts making Christian love ballads and playing Christian rock shows, then then he can start talking about who to excluded. Otherwise a concert is a secular event and bands should be judged on the quality of their music and stage show, not the ideologies of the bands.
Title: Re: No more "full-on Satanic" bands for Dave Mustaine. Post by: HaemishM on May 10, 2005, 02:48:00 PM If he's fronting any money for the shows, he has every right to decide the band should or shouldn't play the show.
Sure, it's funny, and hugely Alanis-Morrisette-style ironic, but not something I'm going to get my tits in an uproar about anyway. Chances are a band named Rotting Christ probably isn't really that good anyway. Title: Re: No more "full-on Satanic" bands for Dave Mustaine. Post by: tazelbain on May 10, 2005, 02:57:14 PM Sure, he has a right to be an ass, its a free country.
Title: Re: No more "full-on Satanic" bands for Dave Mustaine. Post by: HaemishM on May 10, 2005, 03:03:53 PM He's been taking full advantage of that right for years now. I'm not sure why people are surprised now. :-D

Wait, is that ironic as in someone writes a song about irony that doesn't really have any irony in it? Or do you mean it's ironic in that it's just really an odd coincidence? Maybe because they admire "said messiah" so much, that they'd like to model their lives after him? Not that I'm very good at it though. Title: Re: No more "full-on Satanic" bands for Dave Mustaine. Post by: Pococurante on May 11, 2005, 05:11:22 AM I'm not entirely sure why smoeone has to be a totally different person because they suddenly believe in a messiah. Sometimes life-changing epiphanies, you know... sort of change things. For most people the personal epiphany is not finding something "out there" - it's finally accepting what was always inside to begin with. In short its not so much drinking the kool-aid and buying a doctrine but rather more changing how one relates to and interacts with the world. Sure there are zealots but not every epiphany is just some loose wheel finding another broken axle. As in all the great wisdoms in life, Cheech & Chong is my guide: "Before, I was all messed up on drugs. Now, I'm all messed up on the Lord." Wait, is that ironic as in someone writes a song about irony that doesn't really have any irony in it? ... except she didn't write it. It was a cover. Now isn't THAT ironic! About Mustaine... I agree with Poco, he's not being an idiot because he found Christ, he's being an idiot because he's Mustaine. He has just found a new subject to be idiotic about. Wait, is that ironic as in someone writes a song about irony that doesn't really have any irony in it? Yeah, that's it. It's like Rain, on your wedding day A free ride, when you've already paid It's the good advice, you just can't take But who would have thought, it figures I think the irony is in people who have listened to Mustaine's music actually being surprised that Dave Mustaine could act like a cockmouth. Or that people actually think that song is Ironic because of the name, when really, the irony is that there is no irony in the song whatsoever. Having fun with your Erasure and Modern Talking albums?Just because the metalheads here are generally intelligent people doesn't mean the masses aren't complete and utter lackwits. As a member of the metalhead group I agree, most fans are assmunches I wouldn't expect a more coherent sentence than "Dude, fuck-yah!" from. Discussing what any of the songs are about if it's more substansial than, "Girls, Girls, Girls" by Crue? Forget it. You think folks liked Rust In Peace because it was a nuclear protest song, or because it kicked ass? Title: Re: No more "full-on Satanic" bands for Dave Mustaine. Having fun with your Erasure and Modern Talking albums?Nah, that would be my brother. I listen to everything from Polka to Patti Smith to Celtic Frost to Japanese Noise Rock. At least I try to. That being said.....I've known and hung around plenty of metalheads. Some are even my friends. I've even filled in for a couple metal bands before. I just don't get most of them though. They're like the guys in those internet videos who hold exploding firecrackers in their hands. The kind of people who'd happily participate in a backyard wrestling match. The kind of people who worship "Satan", but yet, don't believe "God" exists. |
