Title: Rockstar Strives to Piss People Off

I only wish I was kidding (http://www.f13.net/news.php?subaction=showfull&id=1115737981&archive=&start_from=&ucat=13&).

Warning:  over-ambitious metaphor ahead.

Rockstar continues to ride the wave of sensationalism, even if it crashes on the sharp rocks of Federal legislation, and the undertoe takes everyone else out to sea with them.

The only thing from Vancouver that has ever been "brutally funny" is the hockey team.

I bet it will be fun above all. Most of their stuff has been a blast.

I remember a game called "School Daze" I played on a Commodore 64 (I believe). You could shoot spitballs in class, cause mischief, and get other kids in trouble. It certainly amused me.

EDIT: Oh, nm, Strazos already pointed it out.

Wait, a game about standing up to bullies pisses people off?

I'm quite sure it will piss someone off, because it will advocate violence, or show mindless violence, or something equally similar. There are lots of sandy vaginas in the world, and I'm sure this game will be an easy target.

If the solution to bullies is packing heat in the classroom, then yes, there will be problems.

I'm guessing they'll just take the silly/campy Tony Hawk Pro Skater prank-like approach to violence. If people still have a problem with that, then...ummm...they probably need to get their asses kicked.

Right, because Rockstar games is known for keeping violence reigned in.

If they have dodgeball and wet willies - I'm so preordering.

Because they're not THAT serious. A Columbine type scenario is way too gloomy and nihilistic for their tastes, I think. There's just no comedy inherent in it -- and comedy is the other main thing they try to shoot for in their games. Not "just" violence.

I'm not saying it'll be for the Disney crowd or anything, but I just don't see them taking it that far, with that setting and context. And if they do, then I'll protest as well.

For some reason, I don't think they can take it far enough - well, not as far as the Japanese could. They gave us Battle Royale because high school kids are "the devil." Rockstar is going to give us "Prep School Drama." But who knows, maybe they will take it to the extreme. I expect a subgame involving hooking up with hot female teachers. I'm going to watch this title, despite disliking everything else Rockstar has given us.

"Maybe" they'll fit a little Jason Dean in there, but I'm expecting more of a Revenge of the Nerds/3 O'Clock High type thing. And yeah, I am so hoping for "Hot for Teacher" on the soundtrack.

I think they are right.  Look at the way the Comics Code turned comic books into a juvenile art form for decades, marginalizing it even to this day.  I am glad to see them push the boundaries by making over the top quality games, rather than leaving the concept of 'adult' games to hentai dating sims.  The crusaders will push to keep mainstream work in a box, trying to create a definition of pornography by placing a no man's land between the extreme and the mainstream, to the detriment of both.  They don't need Rockstar to hold hearings, those will be held anyway.

And, yeah, I Don't Like Mondays.

"School's Out" by Alice Cooper is a must, as is "Be Chrool to your Scuel" by Twisted Sister. Man, I am starting to want this game based on the fantasy track listing alone!

Rockstar is on an inevitable trajectory to launch a game version of "OZ".  Put an advisory on that bad boy.
