How Bizarre a Croatian priest has been suspended after spending more than £16,000 on a phone sex line.

Father Ljubomir Simunovic ran up the bill after spending hours on the phone praying with an operator for her deliverance to God.

But the pastor was said to have been tricked by the woman who constructed an elaborate story so he would ring the peak-rate phone line.

Simunovic said: "I had no idea she was working on a sex hotline, I didn't even know such a thing existed. "I thought I was helping a woman who had returned to God after her divorce while struggling to support a son on her own."

The chat-line operator has confirmed his story claiming they had no sexual contact, while loyal members of the Simunovic's congregation are now refusing to attend mass until he is reinstated.
