I'll have to up the ante with the  Nightwatch (http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox_searchlight/night_watch/large.html) trailer.  Fucking beautiful looking Russian film based on a trilogy of books, that's gotten a lot of positive reviews and will be coming here to the U.S. in a few months.

Somewhat less exciting but not deserving of it's own topic is Romero's  Land of the Dead (http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/georgearomeroslandofthedead.html) trailer.  The dead are starting to think and stuff...  Um, maybe I'll just stick with Undead (http://www.apple.com/trailers/lions_gate/undead/) instead...

I'll watch it for Asia at least...Probably not everyone's cup of tea, but I can't get enough of her.

Asia Argento is wonderful. We'll just forgot about a few of her most recent roles.

And I've got a new genre for you. The "Bandaid" movie. It's like an ensemble movie, but you take a bunch of shitty actors and put them with one or two good actors and turn the crank a few times - boom - out comes your Oscar worthy drama.

For example:
1 oz: Don Cheadle
7 oz: Stars of the 90's and Today Who's Careers are Questionable at Best: Sandra Bullock, Matt Dilllon, Jennifer Esposito, Ludacris, Thandie Newton, Ryan Phillippe, Brenden Fraser

Heat under searing melodrama for 2 hours. Cool and serve. Congratulations - you've just increased the shelf life of seven actors by at least a decade.

I think schild is on to something with the "bandaid" thing. I just can't think of another example. I'd say "I Heart Huckabees", but supposedly it's good. I'd say Kill Bill (or any "T" movie for that matter), but "T" chooses these actors because he actually likes them. Not for marketing reasons.

How about "Deuces Wild"?

I think the length of Brenden Fraser's career can be directly linking to the sheer number of times Airheads has been shown on Comedy Central.

When the hell are people going to realize Romero is nothing but a hack commercial director who got lucky? I mean, Land looks ok, but he's always been a bit too campy for my tastes. As for "ultimate masterpiece," yah, pull the other one. Undead looks interesting.

Night Watch, however, appears to be fucking brilliance, at least visually. Don't know if the story will suck, or if it'll be too obscure for American audiences to get, or what, but whatever it does, it'll look great.

Crash... /meh. Gut-wrenching human drama.

Apparently Undead is more like Shaun of the Dead than scary, it's been out in other parts of the world for a while.

My favorite Romero film was Day of the Dead, but I don't like any of them that much. I recently saw the 1980s Night of the Living Dead color remake with Tony Todd, that was also pretty bad. I'd have to say Zombies are pretty overdone right now. (This coming from someone who spent last night playing Resident Evil Outbreak 2)

Up until that Toe Tags comic, while I didn't think Romero was a great director, I also didn't think he could fuck up a zombie story.  When it comes to zombies, even an average movie like the Dawn of the Dead remake entertains me somewhat.  If he made a movie that was anything like that comic though it would be on a level with House of Dead.

Night Watch I've read nothing but good things about.  The story is supposed to be pretty good although I guess it will remain to be seen how well it translate to English.  There a good article here (http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=18201) for those who don't know much about the movie.
