Nintendo Debuts 'Electric Blue' DS Color (http://news.designtechnica.com/article7178.html)
Tuesday, April 19 @ 12:00:00 PDT

'Electric Blue' debuts in June and will become a permanent color in the Nintendo DS palette, joining the original silver-and-black model, named 'Titanium.'

"This eye-catching new color comes at an ideal time," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "Nearly 2 million Nintendo DS owners in North America alone have demonstrated they want something new from a hand-held video game system. Soon, consumers will have two popular choices for the innovative dual-screened Nintendo DS, which features touch-screen control, voice recognition and wireless play."

June also will see the release of two exciting new DS games. On June 13, Kirby: Canvas Curse will bring a new touch-screen twist to a popular franchise. Players will draw rainbow paths for Kirby to roll along as he stuns enemies and takes on their abilities. And on June 27, the highly anticipated and highly addictive puzzle game Meteos(TM) will have players launching deadly falling meteors back into space with touch-screen precision.

It's all over for the PSP now. The King has returned to the top of the hill.

I heard Henry Rollins once jammed his wang in a DS and repeatedly slammed it shut.

Dear Nintendo:

I really like your new DS system.  Sadly, you have failed to release a single fracking game for it I actually want to give you 30 dollars for, much less the 40 you are trying out on select titles.  I can't even play GBA games on it since both systems have poo all for decent new releases.  Maybe if you would ban all the crappy kiddie liscense games and stop ripping us off with your rereleases most people who aren't complete wussies like me download off the net and fit your entire SNES/NES libraries on a CD ROM might be buying your system and lots of games instead of eyeing the poorly made Sony PSP which makes up for being typical unstable iffy Sony hardware with an actual release library.

Please fix this problem as soon as possible so I am not tempted to waste 250 dollars on a hunk of shit so I can get my portable game at work on.
                                                        Your longtime customer,

I dropped my PSP on concrete and it had nary a scratch. It landed on the screen. Works perfectly.

I dropped my DS on the ground, broke both screens.

Take that as you will. A dead pixel on the PSP is not as noticeable as a dead pixel on the DS. Also, I've seen more touch screens outright break than PSPs. Take that as you will, but the DS is the poorest quality item Nintendo has ever put out.

And in my experience, poorer than the PSP.

Have to agree with Schild. I've had more DS complaints than I have PSP. The PSP complaints I do have are from anal retentive jackholes. They don't understand that the dead pixel in the bottom left of their PSP, that you can only see in your bathroom, with the lights off, while the PSP is 1 MM from your face, really isn't THAT big of a defect.

I take it as you need to stop dropping things.  ;)

I liked Perfect Dark a lot. And I loved Wind Waker. Plus Metroid Prime and the first Mario Party were really cool.

They didn't make Ultima Online, so I guess that would mean "no" to you.

Oh, and technically, Rare was responsible for GoldenEye.

Yes.

It looks nice.  But if I wanted a DS, the color wasn't going to turn me off.

I really don't get moves like this.  What retard in marketing thinks "Hm, the DS isn't selling well... it must be the color!"

The japanese eat that shit up, actually.

Really, though, this just seems like nitpicking to me.  So what if they have a new color.  Yes, the lack of games is a serious fucking problem.  This time of the year is, however, typically a slow one for game releases.  That's no excuse, really, but oh well.  I'm wondering what kind of delay Nintendo's push on their wifi infrastructure is causing for their games.

Still, hurry up and release Animal Crossing DS and Katamari Damacy DS, motherfuckers!  GBA releases hold me over for only so long.

Nintendo simply has to be more creative than Electric Blue. Pearl White would have sold well here. As would have an insane retro one like the LTD Edition SP.

But Blue? Please. They can make them any color they want and they choose electric blue? You'd think they'd have thought about it whatwith the nasty tattoo one they have out of the SP - which, btw, I've never seen anyone playing. Anywhere.

If you are talking about the cobalt blue SP, then you would be talking about the kind I have.  Mine has had a lot of play, in public and private.

Not that I dont love my PSP, but I have a big ass dead pixal right smack in the fucking middle of my screan and I can constantly see it while gaming, in almost any light. So, yeah, thats kind of a problem for me after I dropped over $300 for the system and a mem stick. Not to mention games.

Sounds like you didn't buy a service plan.

What Schild said. I'm not saying the PSP is perfect, but it hasn't come close to the shit thats gone wrong with the DS. The number one problem I encounter is the touch screen randomly dying on people. For what reason, I don't know. Some say it's that god awful hinge. Either way, both have defects that shouldn't be there, but at least Sony is willing to take it like a man.

If you read the page in the manual about dead pixels, they will replace it if it hinders your use of the PSP. Bug sony, they'll replace it. Worked for the customers that I couldn't do anything for.
