Title: Microsoft Unveils X-Box 360 Game Developers Post by: HaemishM on April 08, 2005, 08:11:41 AM A cornucopia of developers (http://www.f13.net/index2.php?subaction=showfull&id=1112973125&archive=&start_from=&ucat=13&)!
Title: Re: Microsoft Unveils X-Box 360 Game Developers Post by: Miasma on April 08, 2005, 08:45:47 AM I haven't really been paying too much attention to the XBox 360 and PS 3 news since they are still so far out and most of the info is sketchy at best, but does all the "HD era" marketing hype in that release mean it will only work with High Definition TVs?

No, it'll scale down. Edit: But ya know, now that I've played the original Xbox on my HDTV, I'd never go back. And woooo hoooo for Microsoft getting KOEI and Namco and Majesco and Codemasters to commit. Edit: KOEI is KOEI is not need to be KOEI twice. Title: Re: Microsoft Unveils X-Box 360 Game Developers Post by: HaemishM on April 08, 2005, 08:53:28 AM The X-Box 360 or Next-Box or whatever the fuck it's going to be called is releasing later this year. That's not that far away.
Title: Re: Microsoft Unveils X-Box 360 Game Developers Post by: schild on April 08, 2005, 08:54:01 AM I know.
I CAN'T WAIT. Title: Re: Microsoft Unveils X-Box 360 Game Developers Post by: AOFanboi on April 08, 2005, 11:30:32 AM I CAN'T WAIT. Aren't you supposed to be Sony's bitch?E3 tacticery is around the corner too (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=7881). Title: Re: Microsoft Unveils X-Box 360 Game Developers Post by: Miasma on April 08, 2005, 11:48:21 AM Quote The scheduling is threatening a headache for media and industry types who need to attend both events, since if the Sony event runs on for a while it could be quite tough to get from Culver City back into downtown LA in time for the 6pm kick-off with Microsoft. I'm sure the Sony PR/Marketing people will start promptly and finish early so that everyone will be on time for the Microsoft event. PR/Marketing people are a lot more ethical than the rest of us, classier too.Title: Re: Microsoft Unveils X-Box 360 Game Developers Post by: Rodent on April 09, 2005, 06:58:11 AM If the rumours going around of SEGA working on a new console prove to be true, I couldn't care less about this one. But in the meantime here's hoping Konami, Capcom, SEGA and Namco decide to release something other then ports. And that Ubisoft can retain the quality of the 2Kx sportsgames.
Title: Re: Microsoft Unveils X-Box 360 Game Developers Post by: Riggswolfe on April 09, 2005, 11:48:31 AM I could really care less about a Sega console. They'll support it about as well as they've supported their past consoles.
Is Xbox next backwards compatible? Do we have a general idea of launch titles yet? Title: Re: Microsoft Unveils X-Box 360 Game Developers Post by: AOFanboi on April 09, 2005, 01:47:54 PM Is Xbox next backwards compatible? With a completely different processor and architecture, different graphics chip set (as if developers didn't "bypass" DirectX down to the nVidia metal on the current console), no mandatory hard drive and the introduction of XNA: Magic Eight Ball says "Not bloody likely".If the PS3 continues the tradition of original games that the PS2 gets (Rez, Ico, Frequency/Amplitude, Katamari Damacy, Dark Chronicles etc.), that will be my choice at least. Microsoft delendam est. Title: Re: Microsoft Unveils X-Box 360 Game Developers Post by: Rodent on April 09, 2005, 06:10:59 PM I could really care less about a Sega console. They'll support it about as well as they've supported their past consoles. If it does about the same as the DC it'll see more playtime than my PS2 anyway. Title: Re: Microsoft Unveils X-Box 360 Game Developers Post by: Strazos on April 09, 2005, 06:47:26 PM Sorry but I have to agree...the PS2 is the worst, most un-fun console I have ever owned.

Opposite for me. My Xbox collects dust between every interesting release, all of which I can count on one hand. Opposite for me. My Xbox collects dust between every interesting release, all of which I can count on one hand. I'm curious, what is everyone's favorite console then? GC? Title: Re: Microsoft Unveils X-Box 360 Game Developers Post by: schild on April 09, 2005, 11:47:24 PM I own ~40 recent games (last year or two) for the PS2.
I own about 30 for the Xbox. I own about 10 for the gamecube. That said, I prefer the Xbox for all crossplatform stuff. I didn't until I got the Midway limited edition Mortal Kombat controller with the comfy black and white buttons. Oh, and the HDTV helps. The Xbox simply looks and sounds the best. And it now has the best controller (http://www.mortalkombatcontroller.com/). Ignore the lame ass holograms and shit. It comes with a black thing over the hologram with the Mature 'M' symbol on it. i haven't removed it. It's pretty damn cool looking in sky blue. As far as the PS2 goes. I like Japanese games. Katamari, Shin Megami Tensei, .hack//Sign, Siren, Ribbit King. I eat all that shit up. So I end up buying an assload of games for it. If Sony keeps up the job they're doing importing stuff (and their third party developers), I'll be broke forever. For the gamecube, I own Mario Sunshine, Zelda, RE4, Smash Bros., uhmmm. And some other stuff. Oh, Harvest Moon. Maybe something else. I can't remember what. I don't care much for the system despite how much I love the Wavebird. It's merely a Resident 4 TV Adapter. Edit: Spelling is hard. Title: Re: Microsoft Unveils X-Box 360 Game Developers Post by: Fabricated on April 10, 2005, 09:43:57 AM I'm curious, what is everyone's favorite console then? GC? Overall I'd say my PS2 gets the most playtime, followed VERY closely by my GameCube thanks 99.8% to me and every one of my friends loving Smash Brothers, and finally my poor Xbox, which gets played a lot every 4-6 months when a big release I care about comes out. Not to say I don't like my Xbox. Riddick was fucking awesome, TimeSplitters 2 is fun, and even though I abandoned the XBox versions for the PC ones, KOTOR1 and 2 are kickass. Title: Re: Microsoft Unveils X-Box 360 Game Developers Post by: Rodent on April 10, 2005, 04:44:46 PM I'm curious, what is everyone's favorite console then? GC? Most of my console playing is on the Gamecube and Xbox. I play sportsgames on the Xbox, and nothing beats drunken Super Monkeyball/Mariocart on the GC. Both of them have other titles that sometimes force me to play sober ( Kotor, Zelda etc. ). Recently I had to dust off the PS2 again to play Metal Gear Solid 3, but after I beat it the PS2 has stood disconnected and alone under a chair yet again. Title: Re: Microsoft Unveils X-Box 360 Game Developers Post by: HaemishM on April 11, 2005, 09:55:53 AM I think for sports games, the X-Box is the best, bar none. But if you don't like sports games, well, then that'll depend on whether you like Japanese-style games or not. I have an X-Box and my wife's GameCube. So far, I've played a bit of RE4 on the Cube and not much else, because I have my MLB 2k5 on the X-Box.
