Horse meat is eaten world-wide, and only became taboo in Western countries thanks to guess who? That's right, those wacky Christians again. Pope Gregory III started the effort to stop the "pagan" practice, calling it "abominable", using the same scriptural basis that make the meat unclean for Jews. Today, virtually no horse meat is eaten in the Unite States, although much horse meat is sold from the United States for consumption in other countries. But I've heard that horse meat is greasy. I found a horse skull last summer doing field work, and I couldn't even bleach the oil stains out.
