When Demon Souls 2 is an Epic Store exclusive I’m sure you’ll change your mind :awesome_for_real:Title: Re: Epic Store Holiday Sale 2019 with $10 off additional coupons Post by: schild on December 20, 2019, 08:30:47 PM That would make me buy a ps5 but not use the epic store. Besides, they're CLEARLY incapable of rebottling that lightning. They've tried five times.
Title: Re: Epic Store Holiday Sale 2019 with $10 off additional coupons Post by: Trippy on December 20, 2019, 09:11:54 PM Yeah but it’s a FromSoftware game — it’s not going to run at a stable frame rate on the PS5. You’re going to need a top end PC with a modded version of the software to do that.

Title: Re: Epic Store Holiday Sale 2019 with $10 off additional coupons Post by: Setanta on December 24, 2019, 12:09:38 AM I thought about downloading the Epic store again if only to play the now defunct Unreal game.
Then I came to my senses. GOG and Steam are enough Title: Re: Epic Store Holiday Sale 2019 with $10 off additional coupons Post by: Reg on December 24, 2019, 06:34:00 AM Hah, look at all the cranky old men. Unable to adapt to using more than one game launcher.

Unable to adapt to using more than one game launcher. For a lot of us, that has very little to do with it. Hell, like 2 weeks ago I downloaded the itch.io launcher to play weird indie shit. Don't get me wrong, I don't want a bad store launcher sitting on my desktop or running in the background for shit I'll eventually get on Steam, but it's more about how Epic is treating games than anything else at this point. Unable to adapt to using more than one game launcher. Quote In March 2018, Tencent acquired a 5% stake in Ubisoft from Vivendi,[148][149] and in May 2018 it acquired a majority stake in the New Zealand company Grinding Gear Games, the developers of the game Path of Exile.[150][151] As of March 2018, Tencent is the largest video game company in the world.[152] Tencent wholly or partially owns game companies; Riot Games (100%),[153] Supercell (84.3%),[154] Grinding Gear Games (80%),[155] Epic Games (40%),[156] Glu Mobile (14.46%),[157] Bluehole (11.5%),[158] Activision Blizzard (5%),[156] Paradox Interactive (5%),[159] Ubisoft (5%)[156] and Miniclip (undisclosed majority stake),[160] This is less about the number of launchers and more about keeping actual fucking Chinese spyware off my computer. Or at least choosing how far down the rabbit hole I wish to fall with it. Title: Re: Epic Store Holiday Sale 2019 with $10 off additional coupons Post by: schild on December 24, 2019, 08:14:16 AM It doesn't even need to get that far for me, though now that I'm thinking about it their behavior is very Chinese of them.
Riot is the one that stings. Also, PoE sucks. Just wanted to drop that in another thread. Title: Re: Epic Store Holiday Sale 2019 with $10 off additional coupons Post by: HaemishM on December 24, 2019, 08:39:05 AM Riot would have stung if this was about 2 years ago. After the abortion they made of LOL in season 8, not giving them my money anymore doesn't really hurt at all.
Also, the store exclusives and my general stance of "Fuck the Chinese government" is all the reason I need not to install the Epic store. I'd seriously rather give my money to Microsoft (and I do, thank you XBox game pass). Title: Re: Epic Store Holiday Sale 2019 with $10 off additional coupons Post by: Samwise on December 24, 2019, 02:11:07 PM The thing that annoyed me about Epic was the astroturf campaign they ran a while back about how Steam was evil because they gave top sellers games a discount to be on their platform, and therefore you should boycott them and buy them off the Epic store instead because they charged smaller games five percent less than Steam did. Unless you're an actual charity for indie game developers, fuck all the way off with that shit.

Unless you're an actual charity for indie game developers, fuck all the way off with that shit. Its just price competition. And its good. Steam has stagnated and needs someone to kick them in the butt. Its also a tad bit more than 5%. The Steam cut is 30% to 10m and then 25% to 50m and then 20% over 50m sales. The Epic Games cut is 12%. So for indies the epic store will net an indy over 25% more revenue per sale Edit: its fine to not use the store if you’re concerned about spyware but the prce differential for developers is pretty significant Title: Re: Epic Store Holiday Sale 2019 with $10 off additional coupons Post by: schild on December 25, 2019, 02:23:09 PM If they had just stuck with the lesser cut, it would've been somewhat tolerable. Also if they launched with as many features and presented some sort of actual reason to use both.
Instead they went with bribing devs to be exclusive. Fuck that.
