I just spent over 200 bucks to setup a new wireless network in my house. Since I was at it I decided to grab WoW since everyone back at my college is raving about it. Finally got my network to work, installed WoW, created an account, created my chars, patched everything, logged in.....found out my character is a nice black shadow dot. And everyone is named Unknown Entity. After researching around a bit, I found many people with my same problem. Linksys 54GS v1.1 wireless routers can't play WoW. And so far, neither company has done anything about it!! Has anyone here been able to magically nake their v1.1 router work? I want to play this game!!!

Did the router have v1.1 on it when you bought it?

Just checked. I actually got out of my bed, went through a pitch dark house to find the damn box. Shows how bad i want to play this game. Even logout or exit doesn't work once im in game...

Heres an entire thread of people with the same problem I found. I would think that with this many people having a problem one of the companies would do something!

Maybe we need to organize an awareness campaign....or blockade their offices with the unusable routers...

You can't return it and get a different router?  That would be my first thought.

My buddy (Splurg/Splurgo in BC) had some wireless issues when he first got set up, but was playing with it last night without trouble. Maybe I can get him to quit lurking and register to enlighten us as to his setup.

Hooked back up at school and im playing hardcore now. WoW rocks. Just hope they fix this problem by the time I go on break.

Btw, I've been playing on wireless since day 1.  Linksys too, although probably not your specific router model.

Contact their tech support about it.  They were very thorough and helpful with my connectivity problems last week, altough it turned out to be on their end.

First, let me introduce myself, nah let me start out by saying WayAbvPar has ruined my life by introducing me to the fucking time-waster that is WOW.

Now that I've gotten the pleasantries out in the open, let me respond to this thread.  I've all but given up on the Linsksys54GS wireless router and playing WOW.  I've pursued every avenue, including firmware upgrades, emails to both Blizzard and Cisco/Linksys and reading the Support threads on any related website.  Version 1.1, which I too unfortunately own, is simply incompatible with WOW for any extended period of time.  I did indeed have it up and running for all of 45 minutes the other night, before I began receiving the all-to-familiar disconnects and freeze-ups.

Unfortunately it looks like I'm going to have to return the damn thing and get a different model without the Speedbooster functionality.
