Boyle has always been pretty good with casting. Robert Carlyle, Chris Eccleston, Ewan McGregor, and Cillian Murphy got some of their earliest starring film roles in Boyle's movies. The guy has a pretty good track record. I can't say he's really made any bad movies aside from The Beach (although I know a lot of people aren't fond of A Life Less Ordinary either). Expectations couldn't get much fucking lower.
