Woohoo! I love this time of year. Even sweeter when your hometown team gets a #1 seed! Great expectations, and all that.

Fuck Washington!  Damn, Cats are now a 3 seed in the same bracket as Oklahoma State and Illinios.  Sheeeit.  We'll go out in the first two rounds though. I fully expect that loss to have completely demoralized the team.  Here's a tip guys: do something other than stand around and watch Salim play. 

If Arizona would have pounded the ball in to Frye, they would have kicked Washington's ass (he went OFF in one of their earlier games). With Salim shooting the way he was in the first half, however, they got into stand and watch mode. And the UW got rolling. They are good when they are passing the ball, but if the offense stalls, they look positively dreadful. I am terrified that they will be the first #1 seed to ever lose to a 16. Gotta happen eventually, and we have seen it before in Seattle (when Dikembe fucking Mutumbo and the ButtNuggets beat the Sonics in the first round- 1994 or so?).

Washington gets Pitt in the second game and then Georgia Tech or Lousiville in the third?  That's pretty unkind for a #1 seed.

Not to mention Wake Forest and Gonzaga on the other side of the bracket. It is a minefield.

Just watch.

Alabama will win it all.

Ok not really, but I can hope.

The SEC makes me cry when it comes to basketball. ACC can beat up on each other and still win.

At least UW and Gonzaga survived the first day.

Wow, I usually don't lose one of my final four teams on the first day.  Vermont. Whoda thunk it?

The first day and a half was relatively calm, with no buzzer beaters and no big upsets. Then came the weekend. Holy shit, what a bloodbath! 2s and 3s dying all over the place. I gotta say- the West Virginia- Wake Forest game was one of the best basketball games I have ever seen. If I was a diehard fan of either school I would have keeled over of a heart attack sometime during the first OT. Wow.

GOD DAMN I HATE FUCKING KENTUCKY!!!!

I don't know quite what to say here.   Being an avid Arizona fan I've been in a funk for the past 2 days.  This was easily the worse loss ever in the history of the program. 

It wasn't that they lost, or that they lost in overtime, or even that they had a lead and lost.  It's just how they let it slip away.  They played like fucking cowards.  They played like morons.  Even with all of the effort that Illinois gave, Illinois still should have lost.   They should have taken care of the ball and not turned it over like that.  Fuck, all they had to be was reasonably assertive and be aware that Illinois would be slapping at the ball without regards to fouls (which they did commit, good job on the plethora of fucking no calls, Frye would actually need to have a penis protruding from his ass for them to call anything).  That foul on the inbounds play should have been called. They should have not had such a goddamn defensive breakdown at the end.  And who the fuck has a freshman take the last second shot to attempt win it in regulation? 

And to cap it all off, Hassan Adams pulls a Chris Webber.  This will haunt him as it did Webber for a while.  You can't just have your brain freeze in that situation.  He could have easily spun and drove to the basket, but he just sat there, unsure of what to do. Or fucking passed it to someone who's head wasn't buried in his ass. Just do SOMETHING.  Jordan didn't win games by doing his best Bambi vs. SUV impression. 

I would be a much happier man today if Lucas had just hit that shot.  That's how you lose. Playing your heart out and getting beaten by another team who did just as much you did, but got that extra roll.  You don't lose by throwing a game away like you owe money to Las Vegas bookies.   I've just never felt this bad, even after all of the early round upset losses, even after losing a final to Duke.  Fuck this sucks. 

In other news, I've locked up the win in our pick-em. Nya Nya.

In my office pool I come in second if UNC wins. So go Tarheels. Screw Kentucky for losing and Illinois for winning. I hate them both now.

Grats to Abagadro for winning the Bat Country pool. I could be found on the ass end of the standings. I am teh sux.

Hmmm, I'm sure we'll figure out some sort of prize. For those of you wondering about where Shockeye was the past 2 days, he's picked up some rare disease from his family. He'll be recovering soon, we hope. As for peckerwo...Haemish, I have no clue where he is. But I hope he's hunting humans. It's something I've always wanted to do.

It's not that fun and they taste like fatty chcikens. Not that I am implicating Arcadian in anything.

I spent the last few days off work and running around like a headless chicken. When I'm at work, I don't forum sit as much.

Luckily, no rare diseases, just becoming a home owner for the first time. LE WOOT!  :-D
