Apparently Seth Rogen gets to do whatever the fuck Seth Rogen wants to do these days.

This seems like a trap movie for parents who think computer animation = kids!

Such parents have no one to blame but themselves for not reading the ratings and educating themselves. I look forward to the inevitable fallout on my FB feed.  :awesome_for_real:

This movie could be terrible but it will get my money on troll factor alone.

It will be the same parents who took their kids to see Deadpool because superheroes = kids.

This looks stupid good.  Meaning it'll have no plot but the jokes should carry it.  Ya know.. like most Seth Rogen movies.

Why do I get the feeling the pitch meeting for this involved lots of 'medicinal' edibles?

Seth watches Annoying Orange and says "this would be great if they said fuck a lot".

Yeah, I'm going to skip it.

This was a Seth Rogan movie, as expected.

However, it's also a BAD Seth Rogan movie. No clever dialogue, nothing witty. Very one dimensional and low-hanging-fruit. Racial stereotype jokes aside, it just wasn't good. The best part was already covered in the trailer. Everything outside of that was just flat and disappointing, and that wasn't even central to the story.

Even the food orgy at the end was kind of "meh."

And Rotten Tomatoes has it marked as Fresh at 83%.

Anyone got a movie review site that isn't owned by goddamn Ticketmaster?

You...you do know how RT works right?

Saw it. The ending actually made me a little uncomfortable. Just a bit.

Otherwise, I was still reasonably entertained throughout.

I know how it's supposed to work.

I am very skeptical that there were 5 fresh movies last week, in the middle of the goddamn summer, all of which scored 83% or higher.

This week, of the three that are scored so far, the lowest is 96%.

Put bluntly, Fandango didn't buy Rotten Tomatoes for no good reason, they bought them to sell more tickets.  Bumping review scores is what Fandango does.  http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/fandango-movies-ratings/

Hasn't Rotten Tomatoes always used something of a "secret" formula to weight their reviews? In other words, some sources have always counted more than others. Used fairly, such a system will actually provide more consistent and accurate ratings. Used unfairly, such a system could well be slanted toward moving units -- in this case ticket sales.

So I don't know if Soulflame is correct, but I'm with him on being deeply suspicious of the site now. Ticketmaster has always had the reputation of doing whatever it takes to make the sale, so deliberately weighting positive reviews is certainly not beyond them.

RT is owned by Fandango but also Warner Brothers.  If they are giving terrible scores to DC movies then the whole RT conspiracy theory is horse shit.

It would be tough to fake DC Scores as the vast majority of movies are so garbage no one would believe them.

But frankly, caring about aggregate movie reviews is kind of.... ridiculous. Assuming conspiracy is a bit more ridiculous. But only a bit.

Yea, but look at what those movies are:
1. Hotly anticipated female-driven epic cartoon.
2. Documentary.
3. Indie Daniel Radcliffe movie about terrorism.

It doesn't matter when those are released, they're gonna score higher than they have any right to and that's just the world in which we live.

This world is ridiculous.

Who on earth wants to watch Harry Potter's world of terrorism.

Gritty magic terrorism drama set in the HP universe? Fuck man that is gold right there.

Technically, that is the entire series.  Voldemort is conducting a terrorist campaign to change the governance of the wizard world.

So, you've already seen it.

Now have it not written for twelve year old starring teenagers and directed like a super hero movie.
