I think he's working a little too hard to get ahead and enlarge his post count.

Even if he was a regular he should have been banned for not including Deadwood. Philistine.

But he gets a point for putting Band of Brothers at #1.

Or crossover to Starz for Spartacus.

Minus points for it not being The Wire. Let's pretend 90% of season 5 didn't happen.

Rome. True Detective.

Those are adequate first spot options.

Rasix would only put The Wire there because he didn't live in Maryland ever.

But he loses the point again for missing out the space after the 1).

Spartacus was good, but not HBO-good. Rome was HBO-good.

It's not top-5, but the Ricky Gervais Show was damn entertaining

Also Game of Thrones is great, but it's not better than Rome or The Wire.

Free cockcaptain26!

I'm slightly hyped for the Westworld remake myself.

Dream On. It was the softest of porn, but it was all some of us had in that era. God bless it.

Blargh!  David Simon worked at the Baltimore Sun city desk for like 12 years.

Dream On is pretty painfully bad when you see it now but I will always love it for the episode where Martin finds out his dad is gay and we cut to a clip of a 50s sitcom where a kid says in reference to a fight between his dad and his friend's dad, "Who cares whose father can lick whose father?"

Rome is still underappreciated. Esp. the first season.

I think Band of Brothers is a bit overrated but I still like it a lot.

Everyone forgets Hardcore TV was on HBO forever ago. It's the best. Except for the second season, which only had a few great bits.

That show was so much better in the original Latin.

Rome (greatest all time super number one)
Deadwood
Carnivalle
Game of Thrones (losing faith)
Flight of the Conchords

All my favourite shows die before they're done. THIRTEEN! THIRTEEEEEEEEEEEN!

My favorite is probably Wire since both Deadwood and Carnivale lacked the ending they deserved. I might have added True Detective to my top 3 but season 2 was such a disappointment (compared to season 1 which is probably the best single season of HBO in my opinion).

At least banned guy created a thread worth a post!

For me, it's...

Wire/Rome/BoB
GoT
Deadwood/Boardwalk/Carnivale

The Wire
Rome
Oz
True Detective
Game of Thrones

Band of Brothers would almost make it, but not quite.

David Bowie's appearance on Dream On still makes me laugh. And Dream On might not hold up now, but at least it was funny when it was new so it's got Arli$$ beat.

Honorable Mention: Mr. Show with Bob and David (Bob Odenkirk and David Cross).  Netflix is doing something new with them this year.... http://deadline.com/2015/04/bob-odenkirk-david-cross-sketch-comedy-series-netflix-1201403256/ (http://deadline.com/2015/04/bob-odenkirk-david-cross-sketch-comedy-series-netflix-1201403256/)

Should we create a separate thread for best HBO comedies?

Silicon Valley
Veep
Flight of the Conchords.

No, because one is so vastly superior to the rest that the others may as well have been on Comedy Central.

I love Silicon Valley but to call it vastly superior to Veep makes me question whether you've actually watched it.

I didn't even know Deadwood was a thing until this thread.  Started watching yesterday, seems pretty decent.

And Rome?  I started watching the first episode of it a while back and couldn't manage to get through it.  Which is odd, because it should be exactly the sort of thing I would like, and many of you seemed to like it.  Maybe I didn't give it a fair shake.

No, it's a spiral. Circles mean nothing ever advances.

Don't expect a satisfying conclusion.

I think it ended just fine. It just wasn't a happy ending, but it was a nearly inevitable story arc.

There has been quite a bit of chatter about a Deadwood movie the past week from many of the cast members. Would really be nice to get a better ending.
