Title: Gracepoint Post by: luckton on December 29, 2014, 02:23:39 AM Started binge watching this on Hulu yesterday. So far, it's not bad. Murder mystery in a small sleepy town spanning multiple episodes. The only problem I'm having is trying to wrap my head around who's investigating said murder-mystery:
- The 10th Doctor, who has apparently "lost" his accent and has become super manic-depressive over something. - His companion, Skyler White, who acting the same way she did just prior to finding out about Walter's drug manufacturing. As terrible as Tennant sounds trying to impersonate a So.Cal resident, I'm still trudging through. Though at the first sign of some extra-terrestrial, I might throw something at the TV :why_so_serious: Anyone else catch this yet? Title: Re: Gracepoint Post by: Signe on December 29, 2014, 09:07:12 AM I watched most of it and it was okay. I also saw Broadchurch, the Brit one, and it was better. Same story, better acting.

Broadchurch is far and away a better show. As has been said here, Broadchurch was far and away the better show. As for my Master reference, watch Intruders. It's genuinely creepy. And John Simm's accent is almost believable. Title: Re: Gracepoint Post by: Signe on December 29, 2014, 03:57:17 PM I just looked and Broadchurch is actually on Netflix US. :)
Title: Re: Gracepoint Post by: HaemishM on December 29, 2014, 09:19:34 PM Broadchurch was so clearly superior that I stopped watching Gracepoint midway through the second episode.
Also, Intruders was fucking terrible. It was creepy, yes... but it took that annoying X-Files habit of not answering any fucking questions to whole new levels of FUCK YOU. Title: Re: Gracepoint Post by: Surlyboi on December 29, 2014, 09:25:26 PM It did answer questions. The answer was just "Fuck you."
And the little girl was awesome. Title: Re: Gracepoint Post by: Khaldun on December 30, 2014, 09:24:10 PM Have Americans ever done a remake of a British show that was better than the original? The Office was at least equal, but...
Title: Re: Gracepoint Post by: Signe on December 31, 2014, 09:11:56 AM I agree that The Office was pretty equal. I liked them both very much. The British one made me more uncomfortable. I would get embarrassed for him. If I knew someone like that I would be constantly looking at the floor when he was talking.
I just looked up British TV series that were based on American shows. This is it: Out of the ones I've heard of, they're pretty much all bad. Well, I liked Married With Children but I never even heard of the Brit version. But, come on, seriously... GEORDIE SHORE? :ye_gods: Did that even really happen? Or is that Wikipedia's idea of a stupid joke? Title: Re: Gracepoint Post by: HaemishM on December 31, 2014, 11:35:36 AM The idea that Geordie Shore inspired the execrable Jersey Shore makes me titter with delight for some reason.

Title: Re: Gracepoint Post by: Tannhauser on January 03, 2015, 12:10:36 PM I haven't seen the UK version, but I really like 'House of Cards'.
