Post by: WayAbvPar on March 08, 2005, 01:20:34 PM That happened to me when I was a kid...my buddy and I were walking down our dead end street when we saw a strange object in the middle of the road. Curious, we walked toward it. At about 15 feet or so, I realized what it was, grabbed my buddy, and hightailed it to my house and called the police. They came out and investigated- it was deactivated (empty). The semi-retarded kid from across the street got it from an uncle or something and had left it in the middle of the road. Scared the shit out of me, I tell ya.

I know this because I grew up in an area that was used as a firing range in WWII and converted to suburban bliss in the 70s. Every now and then when it rained some live ordnance would find its way to the surface and invariably kids would throw rocks at them and be killed or maimed in the ensuing explosion.

We have a lot of army/navy stores around here, used to use them as props with my band occasionally. Nothing dangerous, though, unless you club someone over the head with a bomb.
