Title: Google Hacked
Post by: Merusk on August 26, 2014, 07:10:02 AM
Image searches on Google are all producing an image of a wreck in Russia.  Cyberwarfare or your usual hacker suspects?

Seems to work just fine for me so either they fixed it already or the problem is at your end.

Ditto. May be a regional problem, other people reported it too -- http://jalopnik.com/has-google-images-been-hacked-to-show-a-russian-car-cra-1626862262/1626872525/+barrett

(I don't think it's a hack, btw)

It was just fixed and refreshing my cache wiped it out. We only heard about it from a user looking for furniture on a project but evidently it was going on for the last 4-5 hours.

lol hacked.

This is probably just a fubar by Google's image loading algorithm.   The idea that someone could hack into google, figure out their internal image repository APIs, figure out how to switch them out for news and image searches, etc... all without getting caught is a bit out there.  If someone has that level of access and can get that deep in the system (cause it's really going to be a deep deep hack) then they aren't putting up images of a random russian car crash, they are selling information to nations and other organzations that will pay massively for getting access to internal google data.

Internal glitch is far, far more likely.

And if someone was doing it maliciously, they wouldn't put up a picture of a car crash. This is more likely:
