Title: Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Post by: Evildrider on July 24, 2014, 06:54:13 PM The first red band trailer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWa4INxk4y4) is out for this. I liked the first one and even though Cusack isn't in this one, I don't think he's going to be missed too much.

"You look like Gandalf the Poor." Title: Re: Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Post by: Evildrider on July 24, 2014, 07:05:16 PM "You look like Billy Zane's Dick." is what really got me. :awesome_for_real:
Title: Re: Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Post by: Rendakor on July 24, 2014, 07:17:50 PM I didn't know who that was; had to google him.
Title: Re: Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Post by: Evildrider on July 24, 2014, 07:38:42 PM The main reason I know him is cuz he was the Phantom. My cousin played his sidekick Guran in the movie.

Title: Re: Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Post by: Velorath on July 24, 2014, 08:19:48 PM He was pretty entertaining in the Tales from the Crypt movie as well (the first one, not the one with Dennis Miller fighting vampires).
Title: Re: Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Post by: Rendakor on July 24, 2014, 08:48:07 PM I've seen Titanic and TftC: Demon Knight, but it's been a decade or more for both and Zane didn't make much of an impression.
Title: Re: Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Post by: pants on July 24, 2014, 08:59:17 PM The 'Youre a nerd' R&B song did it for me.
Title: Re: Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Post by: Chimpy on July 24, 2014, 09:06:10 PM Oh my.
Too bad no Cusack, but I am sure it will still deliver some good laughs. Title: Re: Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Post by: Samwise on July 24, 2014, 10:50:51 PM Is it wrong that I'm more excited for this than for any comic book movie?
Title: Re: Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Post by: Abagadro on July 25, 2014, 12:08:04 AM Just because John Cusack was mentioned I discovered (in a plate of shrimp moment) that a 30 year old Robert Mitchum and 45 year old John Cusack look disturbingly similar. I noticed this because I just stumbled upon/watched Out of the Past (1947) tonight and it is a fucking fantastic 40's noir flick with which I wasn't familiar. The dialogue puts Mamet to shame without a single F-bomb. Some great 40's dames too!

Title: Re: Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Post by: Phildo on July 25, 2014, 06:04:27 AM Billy Zane played himself in Zoolander. How do you not remember this classic exchange:
Quote Billy Zane: Hey, Derek, back on top, man. Derek Zoolander: Thanks, Billy. You rock. Billy Zane: No, you rock. When you gonna drop Magnum on us, buddy? Derek Zoolander: Not yet. You gotta tame the beast before you let it out of its cage. Title: Re: Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Post by: HaemishM on July 25, 2014, 07:30:26 AM Absolutely cannot wait for this. The first one was so goddamn funny.

I like his writing/directing, but when he gets in front of the camera he aggravates the shit out of me. Being married to Christine Taylor also makes me hate him :drill: Title: Re: Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Post by: Abagadro on July 25, 2014, 11:55:09 AM Zoolander is awesome. Hansel also has the great line "Listen to your friend Billy Zane. He's a cool dude."
Title: Re: Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Post by: Tannhauser on July 25, 2014, 02:48:20 PM I know Billy Zane because his character was brought onto Twin Peaks apparently only to nail Audrey Horne.
Title: Re: Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Post by: schild on July 25, 2014, 09:34:10 PM Zoolander was amazing.
Amazing. This will be entertaining, but not amazing. Title: Re: Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Post by: Ginaz on July 25, 2014, 09:40:12 PM Does this mean we need more movies with Billy Zane?
Title: Re: Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Post by: schild on July 25, 2014, 09:42:28 PM No, more movies with David Bowie judging walk-offs and David Duchovny as a conspiracy theorist hand model.

Title: Re: Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Post by: Morat20 on July 25, 2014, 10:05:25 PM Absolutely cannot wait for this. The first one was so goddamn funny. I saw it at one of those theaters where you can drink. I feel that enhanced the experience.Funny movie, a hell of a lot better than I was expecting, and the beer selection there was stellar. Title: Re: Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Post by: Speedy Cerviche on July 26, 2014, 07:50:56 AM I hate Ben Stiller so I didn't see Zoolander. It's true normally, but zoolander is the exception, the only good thing he's done. Title: Re: Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Post by: Lantyssa on July 26, 2014, 07:57:39 AM Tropic Thunder. Stiller was the weakest part of it, but he didn't bring the movie down.
Title: Re: Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Post by: Tannhauser on July 26, 2014, 08:57:26 AM Tropic Thunder was great. C'mon, you didn't at least crack a smile at Simple Jack? "You never go full retard!"
Also RDJ as a 'black' character disguised as another dude! I forget the exact quote but it cracks me up. Title: Re: Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Post by: Cyrrex on July 28, 2014, 08:18:51 AM I have a very low brow sense of humor and I thought almost every minute of Tropic Thunder was beyond terrible. The only exception was this two or three minute period where Tom Cruise did the finest acting of his life.

It's hilarious for what it's saying about Hollywood. The same reason that Zoolander is hilarious for what it says about popular culture. Title: Re: Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Post by: Cyrrex on July 28, 2014, 09:52:23 AM Not the same in my opinion, because Zoolander is also funny for what it is, not because of (or only because of) some deeper meaning.
I understand what you mean, I just prefer more visceral and immediate comedy. Yes, the idea of making RDJ play a charcater like that is funny. The execution I did not find funny. Quick Edit: Comedy is in the eye of the beholder, and I am the first to admit that I tend to prefer a different spectrum than a lot of people. Title: Re: Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Post by: Cyrrex on July 28, 2014, 10:09:51 AM Well, yeah, and probably the bits slightly before and after the dance, I can't remember it very well.

Tropic thunder yeah is up there too, had some good stuff, I just don't remember it being as wall to wall consistently funny as zoolander. |
