Title: Humble Weekly Bundle - Strategy this week - any good?
Post by: Azazel on June 22, 2014, 06:03:19 AM
So, are any of these any good? I tend to like TBS when it's well done.

Sang-Froid: Tales of Werewolves
Stronghold Crusader HD
Cubetractor
Unity of Command: Stalingrad Campaign
Eador: Masters of the Broken World
Space Hulk
Ironclad Tactics

I paid the $6 just to get Space Hulk, figuring that at the very least, I think Eador is supposed to be a decent buy as is Stronghold.

Sang Froid is fantastic.  It's a lot like Orcs Must Die where you spend time running around setting up your traps then when the baddies start running around you can attack them or manually set off your traps.  You can also go into town or the nearby native village to gather supplies to help you in your fight against werewolves and other mythical creatures.  There is more of a story behind it than Orcs Must Die.  The voice acting is pretty bad but the music is fantastic and the game is solid and fun.  The overall setting and feel is VERY French Canadian...but don't let that stop you from playing. :awesome_for_real:

FYI use the big brother when you first play.  The little brother is meant as "hard mode".

Eador and Unity of Command are highly regarded. The former is crazy-deep fantasy strategy made by Russians (which means it can be buggy, but they give no fucks about conventional wisdom in game design). The latter is probably the most accessible hardcore wargame since Panzer General back in the 90s.
