Title: Mickey Rooney Dead Post by: MahrinSkel on April 06, 2014, 10:51:05 PM After a career that spanned 80+ years (starting when he was 7, with his last role in 2009), Mickey Rooney died April 6 at the age of 93 (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/04/06/mickey-rooney-dead_n_5102575.html). For some reason even though he appeared in hundreds of films and TV shows, his performance as Puck in the 1935 film version of A Midsummer Night's Dream is the role I've always remembered him for:
If we shadows have offended, Think but this and all is mended, That you have but slumber'd here While these visions did appear. And this weak and idle theme, No more yielding but a dream, Gentles, do not reprehend: If you pardon, we will mend. And, as I am an honest Puck, If we have unearned luck Now to 'scape the serpent's tongue, We will make amends ere long; Else the Puck a liar call: So, good night unto you all. Give me your hands, if we be friends, And Robin shall restore amends.
