Title: And the World was suddenly a Brighter Place: Post by: SurfD on March 20, 2014, 10:24:09 AM Westboro Church Founder Fred Phelps dies at age 84 (http://www.cnn.com/2014/03/20/us/westboro-church-founder-dead/).
Here is one of the few people nobody will be sad to have added to their dead pool. Hope sombody pickets his funeral. Title: Re: And the World was suddenly a Brighter Place: Post by: schild on March 20, 2014, 10:27:12 AM Picketing his funeral isn't worthwhile. It is, however, worth firebombing.
Title: Re: And the World was suddenly a Brighter Place: Post by: Sir T on March 20, 2014, 10:29:17 AM And become like Phelps himself?
This is a good response to the Wesboro hate, and the guy is gay so obviously you have to listen. http://chaddarnell.typepad.com/runchadrun2/2014/03/in-defense-of-fred-phelps.html May God have mercy on his soul, and may he rest in the peace he never knew in life. Title: Re: And the World was suddenly a Brighter Place: Post by: Merusk on March 20, 2014, 10:30:36 AM The best thing you can do is forget about him. All picketing and reporting does is give him and his family the attention they crave so badly. This will be my only statement on it.
Title: Re: And the World was suddenly a Brighter Place: Post by: Bunk on March 20, 2014, 10:45:00 AM Almost exactly the headline I was going to use.
This news actually made me feel a little better about my day, and I have no regrets for feeling that way. That said, you are correct Merusk, the most fitting tribute is to forget that he existed altogether. Title: Re: And the World was suddenly a Brighter Place: Post by: schild on March 20, 2014, 10:49:40 AM It's cute to say that shit, but no one ever forgets. The best thing is to murder everyone around him. Unfortunately, I'm not in that business.

I think secretly a couple of family members will feel (partly) relieved as well. Imagine being born into such a sect and to grow up under the heel of this hateful house-tyrant. Title: Re: And the World was suddenly a Brighter Place: Post by: MahrinSkel on March 20, 2014, 11:14:25 AM Apparently at the end he had been excommunicated from his own church, and the only family members in contact were some of the ones he had dis-owned along the way. Quite possible that nobody from his church will be at his funeral.

Quote I've learned that my father, Fred Phelps, Sr., pastor of the "God Hates Fags" Westboro Baptist Church, was ex-communicated from the "church" back in August of 2013. He is now on the edge of death at Midland Hospice house in Topeka, Kansas. I'm not sure how I feel about this. Terribly ironic that his devotion to his god ends this way. Destroyed by the monster he made. I feel sad for all the hurt he's caused so many. I feel sad for those who will lose the grandfather and father they loved. And I'm bitterly angry that my family is blocking the family members who left from seeing him, and saying their good-byes. Personally I'm glad the hateful old shit is dead. But ideas don't come from lone people, his particular breed of vile hatred will live on, as will the pain and distress he caused many people including some of his own family. The best way to celebrate his death, in my opinion, is to tirelessly oppose homophobia, racism, sexism and all the various bigotries the WBC stands for. Title: Re: And the World was suddenly a Brighter Place: Post by: HaemishM on March 20, 2014, 11:46:58 AM I hope he's getting skullfucked by Satan in whatever hell exists. Fuck him and his bugfuck Jesus-botherers.

Fuck him and his bugfuck Jesus-botherers. I'm having this wonderfully amusing vision of the South Park Satan bending him over. Alas, I don't have the comfort of faith that he's being tormented for all eternity. That was his gig. His long awaited departure has put a smile on my face though. Title: Re: And the World was suddenly a Brighter Place: Post by: Soulflame on March 20, 2014, 12:33:09 PM Quote I take no solace or joy in this man's passing. We will not dance upon his grave, nor stand vigil at his funeral holding 'God Hates Freds' signs, tempting as it may be. He was a tormented soul, who tormented so many. Hate never wins out in the end. It instead goes always to its lonely, dusty end. George Takei is a better man than I am. The world is a brighter place indeed. Even though he was quoted in 2006 that he'd pay for people to picket his own funeral, his family has announced that there will be no funeral for him. Fighting hate with hate doesn't ever make the world a better place. Can't say that I'm sorry he won't be able to personally profit from his particular form of hate anymore, though. Just wish he had died in a plane crash with all his shithead family and church members with him. And the lion's share of Congress :awesome_for_real:
