NY Post is reporting drugs. Mind you, it's the post, but it wouldn't be terribly surprising.

Yea, heroin addiction makes me immediately not care about a death someone deserved. Will miss him as an actor though.

Actors and drugs. It's amazing any of them live past 40.

Sucks because he's in like...5 of my favorite movies of all time.

I had to IMDB him; I've seen him in a bunch of stuff I guess (Lebowski, 25th Hour, Moneyball) but he's never made a big impression on me. Meh.

Wow, that's grim.

He was only a couple of years older than me, but looked at least a decade older. Heroin... bad shit :(

On the East Coast, it's increasingly being laced with fentanyl. There's been a lot more deaths from OD because of it.

I've been a fan of a lot of his work.  It is an incredible waste of talent, and I feel sorry for the family he leaves behind.

At least we can imagine that a few people out there will see what drugs did to him and may say no to this stuff.

Man, watching the next Hunger Games movie is going to be jarring, especially considering how important his character is to the next step along in the story.

Hunger Games was already filming, it's possible his parts were already done. (not that the series deserves someone as good as Hoffman)

He apparently had 7 days left of filming with most of his stuff done. They will shoot around it and/or use a Fake Shemp most likely.

A man who made his career playing disheveled eccentrics dies of a drug overdose?  Color me surprised.

PSH was amazing. No matter what the role, he just threw himself into it and made the part incredibly watchable. I can't decide which of his roles I like the best, but Gust (in CWW) and Lester Bangs (AF) were right up there. And Brandt, because TBL is one of my very favorite movies of all time

What a loss. Smack is bad stuff.

meh. I just watched the first part of Leboowski again.

How can one see that and not feel old? (And a bit deathwishy?)

He looked so young (and eager) in his role then!
