Title: Space Hulk Post by: Ghambit on July 26, 2013, 09:37:09 PM I know a bunch of you tabletop grognards have been waiting for this so here it is (releases in a few weeks):
Space Hulk Pre-order trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTOXGyAwz6Q) Pre-Order just went up on Steam. http://store.steampowered.com/app/242570/ Quote Based on the best-selling board game and set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, Space Hulk is a 3D digital turn based strategy game that recreates the classic claustrophobic board game experience for single player and multiplayer cross-platform play between PC, Mac and on iOS. Space Hulk is set in the isolated corridors and tomb-like chambers of an ancient vessel lost in the graveyard of space. Players lead a small army of fearless Space Marine Terminators to battle in a ferocious fight for survival against hordes of predatory alien Genestealers. The main features are Blood Angel terminator squad Fearsome Genestealers with challenging AI Thematic 3d environment Single player campaign based on the "Sin of Damnation" hulk New coop multiplayer levels against the Genestealer AI Multiplayer head-to-head recreating the board game experience against a friend Cross platform multiplayer between PC, Mac and iOS Level editor with ability to share creations Game expansions in the future as DLC Title: Re: Space Hulk Post by: schild on July 26, 2013, 09:55:19 PM This is fantastic. Would prefer actual Warhammer, but then I guess we have the theoretical War Machine game coming out.
Edit: I mean, it's not Hex or Ascension Online so I'll probably never play it but WHATEVER, this is still rad. Title: Re: Space Hulk Post by: Setanta on July 27, 2013, 12:33:22 AM I played the original computer game version of this on my Amiga 2000 - looking forward to seeing if I get as pissed off with it now as I did then. Loved the game but I predict younger generation tears because it's "too hard"
Title: Re: Space Hulk Post by: Kageru on July 27, 2013, 02:12:55 AM Too random from memory.. The ability for a first strike from an unseen opponent to smoke most of your squad was sorta crap. ... I regret misplacing my chaos gate CD, even though it probably doesn't run anymore. I'd much rather an updated version of that. Title: Re: Space Hulk Post by: Falconeer on July 27, 2013, 03:43:08 AM I was to post about it in the Blood Bowl board. I would be interested to know if anyone could be up for a "Space Hulk f13 League", and if anyone has more details about the game that could give us an idea if that is feasible, fun, and whatnot.
Title: Re: Space Hulk Post by: Trippy on July 27, 2013, 07:24:27 AM Yeah the original was hard even by the standards of that era.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlCgTUKgFeo [I'll expect Sky in this thread soon] I was to post about it in the Blood Bowl board. I would be interested to know if anyone could be up for a "Space Hulk f13 League", and if anyone has more details about the game that could give us an idea if that is feasible, fun, and whatnot. It might work, but tbh there's not that much "depth" to the game aside from raw tactics based on a simple, enclosed map; especially for the genestealers. Also, there's quite a bit of chance involved (similar to XCom), though mitigation is of course possible. It's definitely not chess. The level of tension during play is pretty nice though. I'd much rather an updated version of that. Chaos Gate was fucking wonderful. So was the Epic game which came out about the same time. Oh well, I doubt it has more RNG than Blood Bowl anyway :why_so_serious: Title: Re: Space Hulk Post by: Megrim on July 27, 2013, 05:23:57 PM If you can withstand the rng in Blood Bowl, you can withstand anything.
ANYTHING Title: Re: Space Hulk Post by: Ratman_tf on July 27, 2013, 06:00:41 PM Wow. I didn't know they were so close to being finished!
That features list makes me very happy. http://youtu.be/P4tmNhtf8ks Title: Re: Space Hulk Post by: Sky on July 27, 2013, 06:16:51 PM I have a copy of the board game that needs painting!
If the interface is nicer than Cyanide's, it'll be worth a lookeeloo. Title: Re: Space Hulk Post by: HaemishM on July 28, 2013, 12:45:13 AM If the interface is nicer than Cyanide's, it'll be worth a lookeeloo. It couldn't possibly be fucking worse... could it? Title: Re: Space Hulk Post by: Strazos on July 28, 2013, 08:30:59 AM I'm intrigued - been wanting more SRPG/TBS lately.
Title: Re: Space Hulk Post by: bhodi on July 30, 2013, 08:53:38 AM you can play teardown's alien assault if you're looking for the space hulk fix without the branding (he had to remove it due to this game).
Title: Re: Space Hulk Post by: jakonovski on July 30, 2013, 09:05:32 AM Like all vidya games based on a GW IP, this one has a 90% chance of sucking ass.
Which is sad, because there's the world's second best crpg to be made in the 40k universe (what about the best you ask? Delta Green). Title: Re: Space Hulk Post by: Ghambit on August 16, 2013, 04:01:45 PM Released today. Any reports??
I'm torn between this and Payday2. Title: Re: Space Hulk Post by: jakonovski on August 16, 2013, 04:03:21 PM Released today. Any reports?? I'm torn between this and Payday2. Both RPS and Totalbiscuit hate Space Hulk. Apparently is janky and buggy and worst of all, void of passion for the subject matter. :heartbreak: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/08/16/wot-i-think-space-hulk/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bE3vr9gq3ps Title: Re: Space Hulk Post by: Trippy on August 16, 2013, 04:03:34 PM http://forums.f13.net/index.php?topic=23533.0
