Title: Sarah's Jenner. Tribute 'mech, for charity. Post by: Falconeer on July 23, 2013, 10:14:47 AM It's here, and it's "pre-order" (due to technicalities it cannot be sold from within the client). Delivered not later than August 23rd. It's 10$ or 8€ (no idea about other currencies, sorry). It's a Jenner D.
Quote Sarah Parries In May 2013, we were overwhelmed with support for Sarah Parries, one of our youngest MechWarriors who tragically lost her life to cancer in Vancouver, Canada. We would like to reiterate our deepest condolences for Sarah's loved ones, who have expressed their sincerest appreciation for the incredible outpour of sympathy from the MechWarrior Online Community. We are delighted to have been petitioned by our fans to take this as an opportunity to honor our fallen comrade and to raise donations for the Canadian Cancer Society through the sale of a unique version of Sarah's favourite Mech. Purchase this special Mech for $10 USD and we will donate the proceeds raised to cancer research in memory of Sarah and MechWarriors affected by cancer worldwide. Full details can be found here. *100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society, net of applicable Sales Taxes and third-party transaction fees such as credit card and payment processing fees. These fees typically represent less than 4%. For clarity, IGP and PGI are not making any money off of the donated funds. Here's a video. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lCRkUmZb9U) Here's the FAQ. (http://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/127845-sarahs-mech-frequently-asked-questions/) Here's some pictures. (http://static.mwomercs.com/img/sarah/sss3.jpg) Worth mentioning that 2 minutes after the preorder went up on the site, they had already collected 1200$. Literally 2 minutes. FAKE UPDATE: "Get 'em good!" Title: Re: Sarah's Jenner. Tribute 'mech, for charity. Post by: satael on July 23, 2013, 10:31:59 AM I was sure to buy this if it had been available for mc (I had 5k saved for just that) but now I have to decide if the cause is enough to go back on my decision to not use any more real cash on mwo. :oh_i_see:
Title: Re: Sarah's Jenner. Tribute 'mech, for charity. Post by: Falconeer on July 23, 2013, 10:37:51 AM Understandable. Same here, I have 3000 MC aside for it. You know, you can donate 10 money to the Canadian Cancer Society (or any other) and fuck MWO.
Title: Re: Sarah's Jenner. Tribute 'mech, for charity. Post by: Lantyssa on July 23, 2013, 11:53:37 AM The cause is good enough. Whether it's $10 through MWO or directly, it's worthwhile.
Title: Re: Sarah's Jenner. Tribute 'mech, for charity. Post by: Pennilenko on July 23, 2013, 11:59:47 AM I gave directly to
Canadian Cancer Society (http://convio.cancer.ca/site/PageServer?pagename=donations_can_home) and American Cancer Society (https://donate.cancer.org/index) MWO can fuck off I won't let another penny pass through their hands. Post by: Falconeer on July 26, 2013, 05:21:24 AM Donation for Canadian Cancer Society through the Sarah's 'mech have reached 53k $, which means 5300 contributions.
Here's a news report on it. From minute 18:30. http://www.cbc.ca/player/News/Canada/BC/ID/2398278247/ Title: Re: Sarah's Jenner. Tribute 'mech, for charity. Post by: Merusk on July 26, 2013, 05:36:42 AM While it's awesome they're doing it, that number is pretty sad and indicative of how few people are playing... or at least paying.
It's .53% of 'registered accounts.' Title: Re: Sarah's Jenner. Tribute 'mech, for charity. Are you sure it's 5.3k contributions and not (a lot) less with some big donations making a significant part of it?Here's a news report on it. You can't donate more than 10$, you can't buy more than one Sarah's Jenner, and you can't gift it to friends, so unless you wanted to game the system making fake accounts only for that purpose (?), 5356 is the exact number of contributors as I type.

In that case it's going to be interesting to see how many Jenners they manage to sell. Title: Re: Sarah's Jenner. Tribute 'mech, for charity. Post by: Falconeer on July 26, 2013, 07:44:43 AM For the record, the Sarah's Jenner is a Jenner D, so the same identical thing Founders got. Many people, like me, now have two identical Jenners (and it's the only Jenner I got so I'll need 4 to master them), except for the camo and paintjob. Then again, of course, the 'mech itself is not why we contributed.
