Whats wrong with Comic-con?  Always one of the funnest things I go to (though I've only made it back once in the last several years).

Schild, I have friends who may be going (I wont obviously).  I'll see if its possible for them to get any.

I don't know how I would repay them for standing in whatever shit line it takes to get those, but I would be in for 4 of them if your friends are willing to spend some time doing you a favor.

We used to go, but even years ago now it was just.. too crowded and overtaxing. Getting tickets, reservations, getting places, seeing the stuff you want to. It's just... too much now. And it sounds like it's just getting worse and worse.

You used to be able to go on Preview Night and see everything, but now it's just as crowded on Preview Night as it is on Saturday.

Man, I kind of want those too.

They REALLY do look slick.

I'm sure lots of people want them, but, ahem, shotgun/dibs/I still actually play competitively.

If these had a white back or in any way not tournament legal, I wouldn't be pissed about this. Right now I want to walk into the Wizards marketing dept and start punching people for answers.

Looks like each person can buy two of these planeswalker boxes. Once I find out the price, I'll say how many I'd be interested in picking up. Likely be an infinite number though.

Why would you want so many of them?

While people probably won't pay high prices locally (I don't ebay stuff), this is the sort of stuff that can put you into trade fodder for years. Accruing value in Magic is an iterative process with completely marginal gains. But it's also a hobby of mine, so eh, whatever.

Plus they look pretty badass.

Well, my brother in law has to go to a lot of these conventions, especially now that some of his endeavours are being invested in.  I'll ask him to keep an eye out and pick some up if he sees them.  Are you going to do the trade fodder thingy via f13?  That would be kind of awesome.

I'm the SD airport atm.  Spent week working in so cal
Cal.  Woke up this morning a bit hungover at the Chula Vista Holiday Inn.  Walked down to breakfast and had a serious wtf moment when I saw people dressed up, then I remembered the Con.  I guess it is the onset of   :geezer: :geezer:   but the crowds at the airport/hotel are more annoying than interesting

So. Besides Magic related fiascoes, did anything interesting occur at Comic Con? Seeing as we have the thread and all.

Ehhhhh tons of bad toys and cosplaying.

For me, the best part is always seeing small indie artists. I got a Mouseguard print. Discovered a fantastic watercolorist. Learned about inking methods.

I hear there were panels and Hollywood stuff somewhere. Closest I got was seeing Tom Cruise & entourage shove us all away from the aisles.

Well, they sold out on the Hasbro Toy Shop too fast for me to get an order also. Fuck the lot of them.

I looked these up on eBay.  If you had been able to get a hold of some of these, you would have made some serious dosh!

Yea, I wouldn't have paid more than $60. You would've been better off ebaying them.

As a heads up, Wizards is pulling this shit again. If you can get your hands on a box it should be an easy way to make $200-300 on ebay or whatever.
