My wife has an unhealthy obsession with these films. So we went to see the sixth installment this morning. I enjoyed the "Ocean's Eleven" script of the fifth a lot. This was not such a strong script, but it made for a more enjoyable film than Ironman 3.

These are a total guilty pleasure set of movies for me.  I've pretty much liked them all except for the 2nd one.  Although I think Fast 5 was stronger than this one, they really ramped up the action in the last third of the movie.  The characters have really matured over the series and the after credits scene really made me look forward to F&F 7.

Agreed. Plot was better in 5 but this was some juicy, stupid action (and a tank!).  I like how they retconned a few things too.

Don't forget the Michelle Rodriguez/Gina Carano fight scene.   :awesome_for_real:

Frankly I am a sucker for vehicle themed action movies. I also love insane car stunts.

So I saw an interview with Vin talking about how he sees the F&F movies as a set of trilogies.  1-3, 4-6, and he's had the story set up for 7-9.  With the fact that they opened with $38 million on Friday at the box office, and is on track for one of the biggest Memorial Day openings ever, he may get his wish.

4-6 work as a trilogy. 1-3... not so much.

Yeah.. Diesel didn't come back to produce til 4 and that's where he picked all of it up and started working on continuity.  At least they managed to fold episodes 2 and 3 into the last couple movies.  Although 3 comes after 6 continuity wise.

Is this another one of those films where the American audience are massively impressed that someone knows how to change gears ?

Eh, they're not even really about the racing at this point. They're pretty much action movies now, but all the big set pieces happen to involve fast cars.

All I know is they seem to really push the 'Sweaty greasy women are SEXY' angle.

Doesn't work for me.

Hmmm, not sure either of those count, since they work.  I was more thinking of Megan Fox in Transformers 2 kinda greasy.  God, she needed a bath.

I'll have to defer to your judgement on that one as I've made it a point to avoid Transformer movies.

This tells me all I need to know about this movie.

I'd just like to commend you on how truly wise this decision was.

That assumes some of the sequential scenes aren't happening simultaneously.

Also, who cares.

Seriously this.  How many movies have had a bomb timer countdown that's like 2 minutes but the scenes take like 10?  If movies were strictly reality based they wouldn't be anywhere near as entertaining.

Also, it's not any more ridiculous than when they were using two cars to tow that vault in the last movie.

That was hilarious.

Saw it with Schild over the weekend and he giggled like a schoolgirl every time Vin Diesel or the Rock said or did anything.  It was a preposterous movie but obviously I enjoyed it.

Saw it this weekend. Saw it in DBOX, even.

Totally and utterly ridiculous. Basically, perfect. Not nearly as strong as 5, but still preposterous, in all the right ways.
