Title: Fast and the Furious 6 Post by: Furiously on May 24, 2013, 01:21:29 PM My wife has an unhealthy obsession with these films. So we went to see the sixth installment this morning. I enjoyed the "Ocean's Eleven" script of the fifth a lot. This was not such a strong script, but it made for a more enjoyable film than Ironman 3.

Although I think Fast 5 was stronger than this one, they really ramped up the action in the last third of the movie. The characters have really matured over the series and the after credits scene really made me look forward to F&F 7.
Title: Re: Fast and the Furious 6 Post by: Abagadro on May 24, 2013, 03:22:01 PM Agreed. Plot was better in 5 but this was some juicy, stupid action (and a tank!). I like how they retconned a few things too.
Title: Re: Fast and the Furious 6 Post by: Evildrider on May 24, 2013, 05:20:14 PM Don't forget the Michelle Rodriguez/Gina Carano fight scene. :awesome_for_real:

With the fact that they opened with $38 million on Friday at the box office, and is on track for one of the biggest Memorial Day openings ever, he may get his wish.

Title: Re: Fast and the Furious 6 Post by: Evildrider on May 25, 2013, 02:27:57 PM Yeah.. Diesel didn't come back to produce til 4 and that's where he picked all of it up and started working on continuity. At least they managed to fold episodes 2 and 3 into the last couple movies. Although 3 comes after 6 continuity wise.
Title: Re: Fast and the Furious 6 Post by: Ironwood on May 25, 2013, 02:52:07 PM Is this another one of those films where the American audience are massively impressed that someone knows how to change gears ?

Eh, they're not even really about the racing at this point. They're pretty much action movies now, but all the big set pieces happen to involve fast cars. Title: Re: Fast and the Furious 6 Post by: Ironwood on May 26, 2013, 12:33:56 AM All I know is they seem to really push the 'Sweaty greasy women are SEXY' angle.
Doesn't work for me. Title: Re: Fast and the Furious 6 Post by: 01101010 on May 26, 2013, 04:22:07 AM All I know is they seem to really push the 'Sweaty greasy women are SEXY' angle. Doesn't work for me. Meeh... I'm ok with it. Considering Michelle Rodriguez looks that way most of the time anyway. :awesome_for_real: Title: Re: Fast and the Furious 6 Post by: Velorath on May 26, 2013, 04:34:47 AM All I know is they seem to really push the 'Sweaty greasy women are SEXY' angle. Doesn't work for me. I'll leave you to your Baroness fetish and you leave me to my Linda Hamilton in T2/Kaylee from Firefly sweaty, greasy women fetish, and we'll silently nod and raise a glass to each other. Title: Re: Fast and the Furious 6 Post by: Ironwood on May 26, 2013, 05:03:57 AM Hmmm, not sure either of those count, since they work. I was more thinking of Megan Fox in Transformers 2 kinda greasy. God, she needed a bath.

I'd just like to commend you on how truly wise this decision was. Title: Re: Fast and the Furious 6 Post by: Abagadro on May 27, 2013, 10:00:38 AM This tells me all I need to know about this movie. That assumes some of the sequential scenes aren't happening simultaneously. Ya, I got nothin. Also, who cares. That assumes some of the sequential scenes aren't happening simultaneously. Ya, I got nothin. Also, who cares. Seriously this. How many movies have had a bomb timer countdown that's like 2 minutes but the scenes take like 10? If movies were strictly reality based they wouldn't be anywhere near as entertaining. Title: Re: Fast and the Furious 6 Post by: Velorath on May 27, 2013, 12:46:13 PM Also, it's not any more ridiculous than when they were using two cars to tow that vault in the last movie.
Title: Re: Fast and the Furious 6 Post by: Ironwood on May 27, 2013, 01:12:10 PM That was hilarious.
Title: Re: Fast and the Furious 6 Post by: Brofellos on May 28, 2013, 08:02:40 AM Saw it with Schild over the weekend and he giggled like a schoolgirl every time Vin Diesel or the Rock said or did anything. It was a preposterous movie but obviously I enjoyed it.
Title: Re: Fast and the Furious 6 Post by: sickrubik on June 03, 2013, 09:57:22 AM Saw it this weekend. Saw it in DBOX, even.
Totally and utterly ridiculous. Basically, perfect. Not nearly as strong as 5, but still preposterous, in all the right ways. Two things in spoiler. Beware. But stay into the credits if you haven't seen it. |
