Title: Re: HOLLLLLLY FUCK DAFT PUNK Post by: Merusk on May 13, 2013, 12:28:27 PM Blocked site, what's it say?
It can't be on Spotify yet because release is the 20th. Rumormill says they'll be streaming the album tonight, though.: http://www.nme.com/news/daft-punk/70269 Title: Re: HOLLLLLLY FUCK DAFT PUNK Post by: MrHat on May 13, 2013, 12:50:48 PM Hell yes.
Title: Re: HOLLLLLLY FUCK DAFT PUNK Post by: schild on May 13, 2013, 12:58:21 PM Track 13, "Contact," is one of the best songs I've ever heard. It's so good, I want to say it shouldn't exist.

So damn excited. Title: Re: HOLLLLLLY FUCK DAFT PUNK Post by: Ingmar on May 13, 2013, 01:25:37 PM I keep expecting to hear Michael McDonald vocals come in on Fragments of Time.

I encourage you to listen to Emerson Lake & Palmer, early Alan Parson's Project, or Dream Theater. Thanks for the link. Good stuff and nice to hear what you 'kids' listen to these days! Title: Re: HOLLLLLLY FUCK DAFT PUNK Post by: schild on May 13, 2013, 01:33:29 PM I'm sorry, you seem to be under the impression I haven't listened to all of that.
Comeon. You know me better than that. Title: Re: HOLLLLLLY FUCK DAFT PUNK Post by: schild on May 13, 2013, 01:36:54 PM Modern Vampires of the City is a really good album also.
I'm declaring 2013 done. We don't need anymore albums this year. I know you have. I was being a smartass. I'm liking this album you linked. It's new and retro at the same time. Title: Re: HOLLLLLLY FUCK DAFT PUNK Post by: luckton on May 13, 2013, 01:41:02 PM According to Wiki, there's a Japan exclusive track called "Horizon". Anyone find a good copy of that yet?

Title: Re: HOLLLLLLY FUCK DAFT PUNK Post by: schild on May 13, 2013, 01:42:56 PM They're not streaming that version Luckton, so no, no way to get it yet.
Title: Re: HOLLLLLLY FUCK DAFT PUNK Post by: Signe on May 13, 2013, 01:58:50 PM Pre-ordered the second it was available.
Dream Theatre. I have a rant about them.. Not because they aren't incredible musicians but they're so serious it makes me giggle. I'm sure they don't expect anyone to giggle. Also, have you listened to their cover stuff? I swear, I can't tell the difference between them and the original artist. It's creepy how they do that. One more thing since I'm on a Dream Theatre rant. I was listening to that Count of Tuscany song and when they came to the bit about the soldiers in the wine... well, I'm still rolling on the floor laughing. And I don't believe the story about it. Not for one bizarro minute. Having said that, I could have watched Mike Portnoy (who quit Dream Theatre) play on his drum all day. And he looks like a Jewish Che Guevara, which is weird. And I'm not a kid and I've listened to Daft Punk since they existed. The kid bit inside me listens to something so different you might not survive a clip. Title: Re: HOLLLLLLY FUCK DAFT PUNK Post by: Ruvaldt on May 13, 2013, 02:05:43 PM Track 13, "Contact," is one of the best songs I've ever heard. It's so good, I want to say it shouldn't exist. It's a great song. After around 1:40 it reminds me of Aerodynamic from Homework for a bit. Title: Re: HOLLLLLLY FUCK DAFT PUNK Post by: Surlyboi on May 13, 2013, 04:28:45 PM It's alright.
The track titled, "Girogio by Moroder" was enough to make me by the album without hearing it at all though. Title: Re: HOLLLLLLY FUCK DAFT PUNK Post by: Chimpy on May 13, 2013, 04:29:51 PM It is streaming for free on iTunes now. I have no idea what tracks are what but my god, this is good shit.

Title: Re: HOLLLLLLY FUCK DAFT PUNK Post by: 01101010 on May 13, 2013, 06:21:06 PM Not seeing what the OMGWTFBBQ is about this. It is Daft Punk, bent slightly more towards the retro feel. It is not bad overall and it has some really good hooks throughout, but I can't see the fervor for it. Three maybe four great tracks but overall, meh. To each, his own I suppose.
Title: Re: HOLLLLLLY FUCK DAFT PUNK Post by: Yegolev on May 13, 2013, 06:49:50 PM Link no workee. I'll have to get it the hard way.
Title: Re: HOLLLLLLY FUCK DAFT PUNK Post by: Ingmar on May 13, 2013, 10:33:47 PM You can also stream the whole thing through iTunes, just go to the album and hit the "listen now" button.
Title: Re: HOLLLLLLY FUCK DAFT PUNK Post by: Abagadro on May 13, 2013, 10:51:34 PM Heh, they reanimated the corpse of Paul Williams.
Title: Re: HOLLLLLLY FUCK DAFT PUNK Post by: Abagadro on May 13, 2013, 11:24:23 PM Track 13, "Contact," is one of the best songs I've ever heard. It's so good, I want to say it shouldn't exist. I dig that one a lot. The synth line has a very Wim Mertens quality about it. The overlay of the drums and then the layering of the electronic noise is amazing. Title: Re: HOLLLLLLY FUCK DAFT PUNK Post by: Teleku on May 14, 2013, 12:03:20 AM Damnit, just got to work and saw all this. Somebody get me a link streaming this shit through a browser, can't install iTunes. :oh_i_see:

Title: Re: HOLLLLLLY FUCK DAFT PUNK Post by: Teleku on May 14, 2013, 02:34:04 AM Its dead jim.
Edit: Actually, looks like computer policy back in DC was blocking shit that made that site work. Moved over to a different pc not directly tied in with our special network, now I can search for the songs and find them. Though the original link is still broken. Title: Re: HOLLLLLLY FUCK DAFT PUNK Post by: Amarr HM on May 14, 2013, 03:25:49 AM Bar a couple of tracks, 'contact' being the main one, it's elevator music.
If the rest of the album had been as a good as 'contact' it would have been worth all the hype. Title: Re: HOLLLLLLY FUCK DAFT PUNK Post by: Merusk on May 14, 2013, 04:25:56 AM Finally got to listen to most of it last night. Quite different from what I'd expect of DP and I love the pure digital stuff a lot more. Introduction of unmodded vocalists to a majority of the tracks means I'm going to have to give a few listens before coming to a final judgement.
I'm digging it so far, but that doesn't mean it won't wear on me like "one more time" has. While I can appreciate it, I've never been a funk guy. Title: Re: HOLLLLLLY FUCK DAFT PUNK Post by: Soln on May 14, 2013, 09:59:53 AM thx. Yeah, there are some gems here.
Lose Yourself to Dance is deluvely. But I'm nuts for Nile Rogers. Johnny Marr even named one of his kids Nile. Title: Re: HOLLLLLLY FUCK DAFT PUNK Post by: Hoax on May 14, 2013, 01:29:34 PM https://mega.co.nz/#!IwxCWZKA!eYXa6kmFnBERZRD6Qrjnf3qBXWsctxoKb90Tx3LbXWs

Title: Re: HOLLLLLLY FUCK DAFT PUNK Post by: ghost on May 17, 2013, 11:53:16 AM The more I spin this the less I like it.
Title: Re: HOLLLLLLY FUCK DAFT PUNK Post by: Ingmar on May 17, 2013, 12:15:56 PM The more I spin this the less I like it. Listening to piped-in dentist music all day has clearly damaged you. :why_so_serious: Title: Re: HOLLLLLLY FUCK DAFT PUNK Post by: ghost on May 17, 2013, 12:34:28 PM What I have to listen to most is the teeny bopper shit. If I have to listen to that "We are never ever ever getting back together" song again I may slit my wrists.
