Title: Gerry Anderson dies Post by: Stormwaltz on December 26, 2012, 02:35:40 PM I wasn't sure if this should go here or in TV.
Quote Gerry Anderson, the creator of hit TV shows including Thunderbirds, Stingray and Joe 90, has died at the age of 83. He also created Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons and his puppet superheroes fired the imaginations of millions of young viewers in the 1960s and '70s. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-oxfordshire-20845407 I still need to get a copy of the UFO series. What a strange, neat show that was. Title: Re: Gerry Anderson dies Post by: Signe on December 26, 2012, 04:57:50 PM I know. I just saw this on tv. Thunderbirds are gone!! :heartbreak:
Title: Re: Gerry Anderson dies Post by: Surlyboi on December 26, 2012, 05:00:24 PM Captain Scarlet is indestructible, Gerry Anderson was not.
Title: Re: Gerry Anderson dies Post by: Rendakor on December 26, 2012, 08:51:35 PM We need a consolidated Death Forum or unified death thread or something, if only so that those of us who don't give a fuck don't have to keep seeing them.
Title: Re: Gerry Anderson dies Post by: Signe on December 27, 2012, 08:03:01 AM You might die, you know. And then we'll put you in a dusty little f13 corner to decay while no one notices. It'll be sad for you. Having said that, generally I don't care either especially when it's some old guy who's had DEATH sitting on his shoulder for years anyway. Sometimes I'm even secretly glad they die because they're assholes. SECRETLY. Mike Scaccia made me upset, though.

Liked his stuff but yeah +1 Not like we're going to run out of celebrities Title: Re: Gerry Anderson dies Post by: eldaec on December 28, 2012, 06:09:39 AM People should stop dying.

Title: Re: Gerry Anderson dies Post by: Tannhauser on December 29, 2012, 08:03:47 PM I loved UFO and Space 1999 as a kid. We never got the puppet shows. UFO still holds up in a ironic, Austin Powers way. Sadly, Space: 1999 is almost un-watchable to me now (1st season). Sooo plodding.
Mr. Anderson brought a lot of entertainment to me so RIP good sir. Reasons why UFO is and will always be awesome -Hot hot hot girls who, due to Straker being a real man, must wear fishnet tops when underwater and purple wigs when in space -His secret HQ is under a movie studio. AND his office moves between levels! Elevators are for the fucking proles. -Straker and his aides smoke like chimneys and drink like fish. Don't judge them, the pressure of fighting fucking aliens gives them a pass. |
