Some background: Last year at Halloween, we ran a fantastically popular Zombie Apocalypse event. Britain was zombified and players would be trapped inside with multitudes of zombies, forced to scavenge for weapons, armor, reagents, and other resources to stay alive. When they didn't? They were turned into zombies themselves, eager to eat the brains of other fallen players for various powerups. We tracked the most prolific killers and survivors and a fun time was had by all, with many in the community openly calling it "The best UO event ever". I couldn't disagree, even though I was only spectating. So, seeing how much people were enjoying DayZ, this year we decided to turn the event into a full scale UO shard with all of the trimmings. http://www.uozombies.com What's it got to entertain you?
... Hey, and lots more. Like setting zombies on fire by shooting arrows through firefields (or just torches held by other players), contaminated cities taken over by powerful undead creatures, web statistics for top murderers, survivors, etc. I think it'll be a lot of fun. It's going to be death and destruction. That's why our skill gain is really quick. The best strategy last year was to get together with other players in a player-made stronghold (usually inside of a building with multiple exits) and stockpile the weapons you find. There's not much to do but RUN when player zombies with lots of powerups rush your base, though. I assume that strategy becomes very outdated when you start in the forest instead of the middle of a city, though. We'll have to see what people figure out. Title: Re: It's UO. It's Zombies.
