Alex Karras, from Blazing Saddles fame: Mongo / Webster's dad / Lion's D-lineman, passes on.  :heartbreak:

edit: updated the title in case people are unaware of the reference.

Mongo was Webster's dad!?  I never made the connection.  He looks so different with the mustache and the non-dopey expression.

Very sad.

Quote
Karras had recently suffered kidney failure and been diagnosed with dementia.

Another football player with dementia.  While I realize that dementia is common among those his age (77), it begs to question the correlation.

I'll have good memories of the guy.

Meh. I'd say maybe a rook or a knight. Pawns don't have football AND acting careers.  :awesome_for_real:

...  I don't know if you're joking or not.  I'm going to just go ahead and assume you didn't know it was Mongo's line from Blazing Saddles.

Yes I do know the line and all the others. I am just referring to the fact that he is actually more importa... you know, nevermind.  :|

"It takes more courage to reveal insecurities than to hide them, more strength to relate to people than to dominate them, more 'manhood' to abide by thought-out principles rather than blind reflex. Toughness is in the soul and spirit, not in muscles and an immature mind.”

We'll miss you Mr. Papadapolis.

I just gave my condolences to his nephew.  He owns and runs the comic book/gaming store in my town.  :(
