Title: Printing Money Through Game Mechanics
Post by: LK on June 23, 2012, 08:19:14 AM
EVE players abuse faction warfare to produce trillions of ISK (http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/06/22/eve-players-abuse-faction-warfare-to-produce-trillions-of-isk/)

You ever notice all the people singing the praises of virtual world / MMOS, with their hopes and promises, weren't thinking about their economies and human nature?

Unfortunately CCP panicked and and sized all the proceeds (along with anything else in their hanger that looked to be part of it) while they "investigate". There's now a lot of people (including a lot of people who normally hate goons) asking if CCP makes the sandbox, they shouldn't throw the sand into the players faces when they make something out of it.

Hopefully we'll see if CCP accepts tat stories like this add to the game, and not do another CCP PR fiasco.

And the next time the Thetans find something like this, sure as hell they're not going to tell CCP about it.
Great work, Darius.  :awesome_for_real:

The goons at the top are smarter than CCP, was a fun read.

That was very clever, very obvious and very devious all at the same time. Kudos. Any idea what material they price manipulated to make trillions?

From what I've read so far, they were nonspecific except to say that the price manipulation part involved useless, low-volume implants.

There aren't a lot of things that don't generate much trade and aren't sold by NPC's, it used to be easy because there was a whole range of items that you couldn't see the market for unless you had one of them already.  A few years ago CCP made most of those tradeable only on the Contracts market (which doesn't do history or averages).  Implants are likely, some of the more obscure industry intermediates are also possible.
