Title: Stephen King's "It" Post by: Ginaz on June 10, 2012, 02:49:29 PM Looks like they're making "It" into a movie. I have to say, even to this day, Tim Curry's Pennywise in the TV movie is the most terrifying entity I've ever seen on film. I've always been afraid of clowns and Pennywise was the worst. He still freaks me out whenever I see him. Anyway, I don't know what the point of making this is since I doubt it can be any better than the TV version.

This. Title: Re: Stephen King's "It" Post by: UnSub on June 12, 2012, 06:10:20 PM The TV version cut a lot of the extra characters and situations, making it more focused on the main characters.
I'm not sure a more direct adaption of It can be done. It's a long, rambling book that captures the creepiness of living in a small town really well, along with all the collective skeletons in the closet that exist there. Other parts of the book don't hold up well. Not sure I need to spoiler a source that old, but just in case: Title: Re: Stephen King's "It" Post by: Ironwood on June 13, 2012, 02:51:16 AM Yeah, pretty much; I don't know how a 'faithful' adaptation could ever work given the actual ending. The TV version wasn't all that good and the end level boss looked utterly fucking retarded.
Title: Re: Stephen King's "It" Post by: shiznitz on June 19, 2012, 09:49:22 AM The only reason to remake something like this is if current technology allows for effects that were not available at the time of the original that would also make the film version better. That is not the case this time.

In fact, after finishing IT that was a first time I thought to myself, "Man is King a child molester? That's fucked up!" Title: Re: Stephen King's "It" Post by: shiznitz on June 19, 2012, 01:36:21 PM It was but nothing like Piers Anthony fucked up.
Title: Re: Stephen King's "It" Post by: Paelos on June 19, 2012, 01:37:09 PM Never read his stuff. I've read lots of Kings stuff and it was the first time I was really uncomfortable with his storytelling.
Actually, twice in that book I got uncomfortable. The kids touching each other in the junkyard was also over the top and unnecessary. Title: Re: Stephen King's "It" Post by: Khaldun on June 20, 2012, 09:52:39 AM I cannot imagine anybody making a faithful version of the ending, except as a weird European art film. It would get anyone who tried arrested.
Title: Re: Stephen King's "It" Post by: schild on June 20, 2012, 10:05:33 AM Book was fucking superb. Original miniseries, shy of the horrible spider ending was superb. I'll have some measure of faith in this project simply because the director and writer don't seem to have been totally tainted by Hollywood. Also, the writer worked on Pi. Worse people could've been involved (note: he was not actually relevant on Pi, but he was on set doing bullshit, good enough for me).
Title: Re: Stephen King's "It" Post by: Ironwood on June 20, 2012, 11:11:19 AM Hehe. Kiss of Death.
Title: Re: Stephen King's "It" Post by: Lucas on June 20, 2012, 11:19:05 AM I don't know how the U.S. cable TVs were in the early nineties compared to today, but I must say that it would be interesting to see another "It" miniseries with the standards (production quality, budget etc.) we're used to nowadays by HBO, AMC or Showtime.

GAAAH again with piers anthony references today don't mention mr space rape. Title: Re: Stephen King's "It" Post by: angry.bob on June 30, 2012, 05:40:46 PM GAAAH again with piers anthony references today don't mention mr space rape. Rape implies that there was some unwillingness on the part of one of the parties involved. If there's one thing I've learned from reading Piers Anthony in my dark and distant past it's that pre-adolescent girls love cock and are usually the ones seducing men. Also, lots of stuff about little girl panties. Title: Re: Stephen King's "It" Post by: shiznitz on July 02, 2012, 06:51:05 AM angry.bob, you don't understand. If she seduces you, it doesn't matter how young she is.
Title: Re: Stephen King's "It" Post by: UnSub on July 02, 2012, 10:10:57 PM And she'll enjoy it after it starts.
