Title: Peter Molyeneux and the great DLC adventure
Post by: K9 on June 08, 2012, 01:43:25 AM
His new game curiousity (http://www.shacknews.com/article/74240/peter-molyneuxs-curiosity-spawns-80000-dlc#)

Quote
Curiosity is a simple game for "PC, iPhone, all that stuff" where players tap away at a giant black cube in a white room, chiselling smaller cubes off with each touch ... 22Cans is also running an experiment in monetisation, selling chisels of increasing strength. An iron chisel for 59p (a buck) is 10 times more powerful than tapping, and it runs all the way up to a unique, one-off diamond chisel costing £50,000 (about $78,000).

I'm really not sure if this is genius or not. I guess it might produce an interesting outcome.

Whose curiosity, his?  "Can I make a shit load of money with a game that does nothing but compel OCD people to click, click, click but not provide anything remotely resembling a game?"

God, I hate Peter Molyneux.

He's like the untalented David Lynch of gaming.

As far as I've read, his new studio is all about pumping out small games based on one or two mechanics.

Microsoft was stifling his creative ability to take risks, apparently.

Obviously, you people just don't understand art.

(Like Clint Eastwood's daughter destroying a $100,000 handbag was art.)
