Title: 5 Year Anniversary Event has begun
Post by: Hutch on April 24, 2012, 10:08:08 AM
I don't know when it started, but it was active as of yesterday. The event runs through April 30, iirc.

It's firework-centric, in that many of the quests have fireworks as a theme.

If you're like me, and your main motivation for participating in these events is to pick up a new mount and/or maybe a nice cloak, you will note that the horse races offer only a single event token as an optional reward, instead of 3 tokens as in past events. So they're encouraging you to participate in the rest of the festival.

There are deeds for setting off fireworks. There are 6 colors of common firework, and each color has a deed for setting off 50 of that color. Each deed awards one event token.

Event tokens go in your wallet. But, horse tokens still go in your inventory.

Horse tokens do go in the pay-expansion wallet. The new fireworks mount requires two horse tokens and 40 anniversary tokens.

I have a horse token in my inventory that disagrees with you.

I do have to say, my hat's off to Turbine for at least keeping this alive and well.  Success like this makes me wonder if they'd consider bringing back AC2 on a F2P system, but I doubt it.

Would be amazing to see if they'd make it another five years.  I suspect by then they'll have distilled the game to point where it's basically WoW with a LotR skin.

/scratchhead

The token in my wallet disagrees with yours.

Are we talking about the same thing? When you complete one of the daily horse-race quests, you get to pick an anniversary token, or a horse token.

My horse token went in my inventory, and yours went in your wallet? That's disturbing. Let's hope they both can be redeemed properly.

Storm may have the enhanced wallet thingy- in which case, yeah, both of you are correct.

Yeah, I have the upgrade. My reference to that wasn't clear enough, sorry.

OK my bad, I didn't know there was an option to have an upgraded wallet  :-)

At the risk of  :dead_horse: , I would want to see AC2 reincarnated, rather than resurrected.

In other words, I'd like AC2 (or AC3, or whatever the hypothetical next version is called) to be a more modern take on that IP than was the original AC2. Turbine has a lot more experience in world building and game running under their belts now. And, there have been many other games published in the meantime, that they could look to for ideas and/or learn what not to do.

The point is moot. I've heard nary a whisper about a new game under that IP.

I doubt Turbine will release an original IP while owned by WB. The new owners have a huge backlog of IPs they're just dying to have someone adapt into MMG perpetual revenue streams.

You'll see a Harry Potter reskin of AC2 before you see vanilla AC2 again.

Bought the Enhanced Wallet- horribly disapointed.

For some reason I thought it would allow me to share items across characters- nope.  It is handy for storage purposes, but not worth the 900+ TP.   :oh_i_see:

You can share items between toons via Shared Storage. Which is a special vault, that you can access at any vault keeper. If you're F2P you might not have bought this yet. I know that it's expandable via TP.

I don't know if it lets you share across servers. Doubtful.

Cannot share bound items (such as reputation barters) from the vault.
